Vellore Institute of Technology B.Sc Agriculture Review By Tejaswini Royal

VIT is a deemed to be educational institute. It gave me a great exposure. The faculties were reliable. The campus is purely aesthetic. Academic and non-academic activities both were given with equal significances. In addition, we had credit and grade for our non-academic activities that do not play role in GPA but is very crucial to our life. The campus, environment, classes, faculty, library what not were great here. We were given 2 years of holidays during Covid. We just missed our institute life and our studies.

‘Agriculture’ cannot be learnt with the books or subject. Practicals play major role in gaining the knowledge. VIT provided us with the best practicals and projects. We had many agricultural expo, and live practicals. All the requirements were fulfilled by the institute such as industrial visits, RAWE program, village visits, and interaction with farmers. In addition, we had lot of manual work too like assignments, digital assignments, records, project thesis, documentation, and publishing research paper.

Faculties were just amazing. They were not only friendly but also strict when it comes to the subject. Each faculty had his/here own way of teaching. Some of them concentrated majorly on practical like fieldwork, and experiments. For instance Collection of insects, pests and observing life style, driving tractors, Growing the suitable crop in the suitable climate and Soil analysis was done by each and every one of us. Some faculties were concentrated on theory part as the knowledge and basics must be strong to handle the subjects. We had my assignments and presentation; particularly presentations those were given by me are now very helpful to overcome my stage fear and improved my presentation skills.

As we were second batch of Agriculture School, placement in the campus were not as expected comparative to other departments of institute. B.Tech and M.Tech departments had huge number of placements. There were few banks and agro based companies for the placements. They recruited through exam and interview held in our campus.

Yes, VIT has hostel facility for both boys and girls. The hostels were good. The price range would be suitable to affordable. The hostels are available to the highly affordable people too. The food provided by the institute is good and hygiene some times. If we have any complaints, those will resolve very soon. The hostels are in different categories like AC, and Non-AC. Food choices like veg and non-veg were available. They are allotted by the scored grades.

VIT has well-organized premises surrounded by greenery. The special features are lake, animal farm, agriculture farm, and nursery. The buildings have been updated structure with new technology and modern infrastructure. Each block has new structure and impressive theme like Hexagonal Building, Pearl Building, etc. As I am in Agricultural department, I can say that an innovative Varmi compost unit has been started in the campus. Additional water treatment plants, central cooling system, and railway under bridge are also facilitated. The transport facility is provided inside the campus.

I am very much happy to have such an amazing collage life. The fest made us to overcome the academic tension. The fest like ‘GraVITas’ and ‘Rivera’ are very grandly celebrated fests. The fests not only provide the entertainment but also display innovations of our institute. They are held in an organized manner so that there could be no disturbance in the campus. The securities have all the power to control the crowd and the students. The campus is very disciplined with lot of joy and color. VIT has clubs to expose our talent like dance, singing, environment clubs, agriculture clubs, outreach clubs, and so on. The students in the respective all unite together work for an event and make it successful. Therefore, there is nothing left to be learnt. Everything and everything possible streams are covered in the institute.
