My overall experience at NIT Jalandhar is good. As I was a JEE aspirant, I was studying hard to get good marks in JEE. My JEE Main exam was cleared and I got 90 percentile. So according to it I had options for NIT. From the very starting, I was interested to pursue my B.Tech in the industry, production related engineering, and I was interested in Punjabi culture. My father is also in Textile industry so I was also interested in Textile Engineering because of him. The top institute, which provides Engineering in the textile, is NIT Jalandhar. In the field of Textile Engineering, this institute provides good knowledge, scope, and placements. That’s why if someone is really passionate about their interest in thus industry, NIT Jalandhar is the must go option.

B.Tech course in Textile Technology has the following fee structure: Tuition fee- 62500 INR, other charges- 30500 INR, and total- 93000 INR. The above-mentioned structure is for the students having annual family income more than 5 Lakh. If the family income is less than 1 Lakh, tuition fee is nil. If the annual family income is between 1 to 5 Lakh, the tuition fee will be one third of the regular amount. The eligibility criteria depends upon JEE Main percentile, Reservation, and Girls Quotas. The seats in NIT Jalandhar are 50% for home state students and 50% seats are for other state students. The JEE Main rank for getting admission in Textile Engineering goes till 70000 for other states students and for home state students and with students having reservation quotas the rank goes till the 3 Lakh. The motive for enrolling in this program is getting knowledge and this branch is unique, interesting, and continuously evolving in its field.

The faculty is professional, helpful, and well qualified. Some teachers, which are senior, are strict but they are supportive. They are dedicated towards their work and they stress upon the betterment of their students. However, some professors, which are new in the department, are chill, friendly like if you have any problem whether in academics or personal life, you can discuss with them without any hesitation. We have faculty from different backgrounds, cultures, and states. They have different teaching styles like those that new professors stick on PPTs while the old ones do emphasize on books and research papers but overall their teaching styles is related to the changing and evolving advancements in the industry.

The top recruiters of Textile Industry like Trident, Arvind, Reliance, and Vardhman do visit our institute for placements with good amount of packages.

In our institute, there is one main building where all the official work of the institute happens. Then we have lecture theatre where classes are held for second, third, fourth year students. One new LT is under construction, which will be completed in 1-2 years. There is one central library with plenty number of books available for each program and departments. One old reading room and one newly constructed reading room is there which is fully air-conditioned and have three floors with huge capacity to accommodate students. Library has timing of upto 8 PM while reading room is open 24×7. Building of Science block is there for all the programs in Science (Physics and Chemistry). Along with it, there is workshop where technical and mechanical projects like cars, robots are completed. In front of main building, there is an IT park along with it there is IT building where all computer and IT related works take place. It has one virtual conference hall, computer labs, etc. In front of IT building, central seminar hall is situated where all the freshers, farewell, speeches, seminar, conference take place. In main building, we have academic block, student welfare section, and scholarship section. In campus, we have various food canteens available like Snackers, Night canteen, Campus café with some famous food brands like Nescafe and Domino's available in the campus.

Overall, campus life is good. There is technical and cultural fest, which happens every year. ‘Utkansh’ is the cultural fest while ‘Techniti’ is the technical fest. In institute, there are various clubs based on different interests. We have dance clubs like criminal crew, SI crew, Bhangra club, for literature, we have LADC, Zeal, Rashtra Bhasha club, and Daksh is the technical club. We have food club, Bawre and Kalakaar are the dramatic club, and Praayas is the social club, Team cultural affairs for event management, Octaves for music, Reverie for fashion technology, NETRA for photography. In the starting of every new batch, every club organizes their induction for letting the freshers to join various clubs.
