NIT Trichy has Low Fee Structure and Flexible Curriculum

I joined NIT Trichy in 2021 through JEE Main. My 1st and 2nd semesters were online. We came to campus in end of 2nd semester. from that day, it has been one of the best experience in my life with playing cricket in night upto 3 AM to studying just 12 hour before the semester exam and enjoy some great cultural events. It is the only NIT in top 10 as per NIRF. It provides various government job opportunities for Civil students also. This institute also has very competitive environment, which makes us go extra mile and make us learn the things in better way.

I have taken Civil Engineering in NIT Trichy, which was due to obvious reason of the job opportunities in government sector as well as private sector as construction sector is booming in India. For admission, one has to clear JEE entrance exam conducted by NTA. We need to clear cutoff of each department to get admission. In my case I got CE with 97.8 percentile in OBC -NCL category. Each semester has either 2-cycle test + end semester examination or 1 mid semester examination and 1 end semester examination. Since our curriculum is flexible so you can learn extra skill, which will make you stand out of the crowd.

Institute fee: Open, Open-EWS & OBC-NCL students, whose family income is less than 1.00 LPA shall get full remission of Tuition fee, which is Rs. 62,500. Open, Open-EWS & OBC-NCL students, whose family income is between 1.00 to 5.00 LPA, shall get remission of 2/3rd of the tuition fees, which is Rs. 41,667 and hostel fee, which is Rs. 80,200 per year. You can avail Jitheshraj scholarship after coming to college in the first year and other scholarship like NSP.

There are almost 18 to 20 mentored by each professor. All the faculties are well qualified with minimum degree of PhD in there specialized areas of study form well-known universities all around the world and some from IITs and IISCs. Now a day is mostly all professor prefer PPT mode of study and for explaining they use blackboard in classroom and at some place it has smart board as well. They are very approachable as far CE is concerned. we can go to any professor if we need help or any other work like internship or doing project or getting the LOR, etc.

In our institute, there is dedicated placement cell called T & P (Training and Placement Cell). It conducts IPMP (a series of tests) for 2nd year students to make them ready for Internship seasons coming in 3rd year and CPC for 3rd year students (series of test and interview and group discussion) to make ready for placement in final year. Renowned companies like Microsoft, Oracle, PhonePe, Deloitte, L&T, Godrej properties, Reliance Industries LTD, etc. visit for all the branches. Average package of CE student is above 12 LPA and with maximum package of 34 LPA.

Institute offers hostel and mess facilities. For first year there are 3 hostels. Separate hostels for boys and girls is there. In a single hostel, there are approximately 120 rooms with double occupancy in each room. In addition, each hostel along with 1 common recreational room. Each room has router facility with high internet speed of more than 200 Mbps. Mess food is decent. It has 4-meal facility. Hostel & mess fee is Rs. 40,100 per semester. There is no curfew for boys but girls has entry timings of 9:30 PM. Choosing hostel was one of the best decision of life. We can go play cricket with the hostel mates until 3 PM and accompany each other in night study one day before the exam and many more.

There is separate academic block just at the entrance of institute. Campus size of NIT Trichy is about 800 acres with 20 KM away from railway station and airport. It is located along the highway so accessibility is good with frequent bus service. There is one library, which is open until 9 PM where you can borrow any book or you can go to editorial section to read magazine or newspaper. Labs are having best and latest facilities and equipment. Classes happen at two places one at LOGOS lecture hall and other at Orion building with seating capacity of 150 or above students, having projectors facility. Each department has its seminar hall where respective conferences or events can occur. Campus has 4 to 5 big outdoor playgrounds and 2 indoor stadiums. It also has one hospital. One of the restaurants is present with many other small canteens and 1 common shopping stop and 1 stationary shop, as well as juice shop is present.

Until now, life in the institute is amazing. With roaming on cycle all around campus, playing night cricket etc. There are various sports, culture, and technical clubs. There are separate club for each department. I haven been part of 3 club as far. Institute host 4 major events one cultural: FESTEMBER, one technical: Pragyan, 1 inter-departmental cultural fest: NITTFEST, and 1 inter-departmental sports fest: SPORTSFETE. Apart from this there is separate fest for freshers which goes on for 1 month.
