My Reasons for Choosing Birla Institute of Technology, Ranchi

Overall Rating
My experience at this institute was good in many aspects. In terms of overall personality development and enhancing soft skills, this Institute plays a very important role through its wide variety of clubs and societies. Placement opportunities are above average as well when compared to other institutions that are in the same league. I chose Birla Institute of Technology because I had limited options and out of all those options, I chose this as it was offering better placement opportunities and overall growth.
 

Academics Rating
I took admission in this institute through Jossa counseling after clearing the JEE Mains examination. The admission process was long and tiring. There are only two entry criteria’s. One is getting passing marks in 12th standard and the other is getting a designated rank in JEE Mains. The examination patterns are divided into two quizzes, one mid semester examination and one end semester examination. The course curriculum here does not prepare us that much for real life challenges.
The total fee in this institute is around Rs. 16, 00,000. The fee charged per semester is around Rs. 2, 00,000 and the hostel fee is around Rs. 25,000. There are some special discounts provided to students. GP Birla scholarship allows for refund of fees to students who have performed well academically.
 

Faculty Rating
Some of the faculty members are good in their subject matter but due to lack of proper communication skills, they are not able to teach properly. Mainly PPTs and blackboards are used by teacher while teaching. The problem solving ability of most of the teachers is not up to the mark. The teacher to student ratio is 1:100. Few teachers are approachable as well. Most of the teachers are not that interested in understanding the concerns of students.
 

Placement Rating
An active Training and Placement Cell is present in the institute. There is a centralised system of placements in the institute. Every student gets an id and password to login into the website of the placement cell. It enables them to apply for companies. The cell organizes training sessions for interviews. Some renowned companies that visit the institute are Google, Microsoft, Sales force and Tata Steel.
 

Hostel Rating
There are two hostels for girls and more than ten hostels for boys. Single and double rooms are provided. However single rooms are provided only on special request. There are many recreational activities that take place on a regular basis in hostels. The annual fees of accommodation are Rs. 50,000. The in time for girls is 9 PM. there are many restrictions in the hostel.
 

Infrastructure Rating
The infrastructure at Birla Institute of Technology is top notch. The classrooms and lectures halls are spacious with proper air conditioning. There are separate blocks for student activities. The campus is huge and the distance between hostels and classes is significantly large. A spacious Library is available. A sports complex is also available and it is large with fields for basket ball, football, badminton and cricket. A dispensary is also available 24/7 to meet the medical needs of the students.
 

Campus Rating
The campus life is vibrant. Many events are help throughout the year. There are various clubs from many domains ranging from Literature to Data Science. Numerous extracurricular activities are available at Birla Institute of Technology. Two fests are organised in one year. One of them is a TechFest called Pantheon and the other is a cultural fest called Bitotsav. Some festivals such as Sarasvati Puja are also celebrated in the campus. The institute crowd is vibrant.

    My experience of BIT Mesra has been mixed. The positive aspects of this Institute are its placements, its highly qualified professors and its reputation. On the negative side the Institute has been investing very little lately and sometimes. The facilities provided are very frustrating.   • All You Need to Know About BIT

    I got a decent rank of 27000 in the JEE mains, 2023. I was hoping to get ECE in PEC Chandigarh, but in the last round of CSAB I couldn't get it. My next choice was BIT Mesra. I could have got AIML but during counseling I had no idea about this branch, so I had chosen ECE. Apart from this the college, infrastructure and campus are very beautiful and good.
