Unlocking the Secrets: How to Get into IIT Bombay and Succeed

Honestly saying this institute is the best for engineering and getting into it is also tough. In fact getting into an IIT means being in that top 1 percent, and require a lot of hard work studying. For two years experience in his institute is like learning a completely new thing and transforming yourself into a completely new personality. Here you get everything from best facilities to best instructor to best competitors to best opportunities. It's a dream college of every JEE aspirant. I feel this college is best for me for several reasons. If you are getting an IIT then that's it, you just need to choose which IIT you want to get in. I chose this branch because it is near to home. My native language could be similar, along with that the research atmosphere, the culture of tech teams and fun was comparatively more here.

You can get into an IIT only by clearing JEE main, than JEE advanced paper and getting a really good marks and rank. After that by using JOSSA counseling we get a chance to choose our favorite college based on preferences entered by us and available to us. After getting into IIT I got civil engineering branch. Honestly this was the branch which I got based on rank so I chose this Institute based on rank rather than my personal interest. If you feel that you want to go into coding culture then IIT's is your option to explore our interest so did I. Exams here in IIT are held twice per sem mid-sem and other is end-sem. Along with that we also have quiz per week or maybe in two weeks depending on professors. All marks are used for evaluation of final grade. Scoring grade honestly is bit difficult in starting as we may feel inferior like it's basically competing between the best students of India but eventually you get how to fit into this atmosphere.

In general for B.Tech students, the fee is mostly same. It's around 1.4 lakh per semester. This includes - tuition fees. All other facilities like mess, hygiene, exercise, dance, sports and lot more. For mess and hostel the fees is nearly 22k per semester. It includes 1.4 lakh so overall a 4 year course costs Rs. 11-12 lakh. You can also avail so many scholarships that are available here like on merit basis, or dean or women merit scholarships. Many other are based on so many criterions either a full or some about of waive off in your tuition fees. For SC/ST students there is a complete waiver in tuition fees. Also if you have any parental income criteria you can get a scholarship. Along with that, loan is always an option if you feel the fees is heavy because personally it's a huge amount for a middle class family to afford. Many banks offer students loan at least interest and also you have to pay them afterwards and according to me even that is a good option.

Mostly all the professors here are graduated from very renowned Institute and has further completed their PhD's, masters from outside of India. Prof. teaching here also has really good index score in Google scholar in their researches. They are good researches too. Some students may find it difficult to understand what they are teaching as they do teach according to their experience and after 11th and 12th grade it’s tough to understand. We have friendly relation with our faculty members. Everyone here has their own style of thinking. They are really talented. In my batch one professor usually handles a class of 80-100 students and we have nearly 3 sections. If you are really enthusiastic about the course which prof. teaches you, they genuinely help you a lot like how to pursue your career in that field and also help for internship and making your portfolio.

Placement PT cell is a body made by students. The students here only handle this task. They are selected based on interviews. They pitch to companies to get them into college, and help them conduct interviews. From internships to placements they handle this and really a lot of companies come in this college too for different roles that can vary from tech to finance, design, consulting, product everything, and really good brands with a very good package, etc. The companies that are invited for placements include Bain to LEK, from Amazon to Google, etc. The average package is 20 lakh per annum and the highest package is in crores.

Yes, The hostel facility is provided to the students inside the campus. Girls and boys have separate hostels. The hostel room is shared by 2 students and has all the facilities available here from 24*7 including internet, hot water, etc. We have it all here, and rooms are sufficiently big. We get single room in our fourth year and new hostel every year. Mess serves us meals 4 times a day and has good quality and quantity. It has good taste and serves cuisines which are not regional specific like not only food famous in Mumbai but from north to south all famous dishes in India. We also have gala dinner, special lunch, special dinner and tea party once in every semester also extras like non-veg. are provided daily. There is no in or out time here, you can go anywhere at any time no restrictions. It is really good and dream type thing.

Campus has a large area of nearly 400+ acres and is near Hiranandani which is the colony of rich people. The location is in the middle of mountain near to a lake. Basically it gives a full nature vibe with greenery. Infrastructure wise it is really nice and appealing, well maintained, etc. The classrooms are really big from LHC's to our LA's. It’s really so beautiful with all digital facilities. The library has all books available here like we have to search on portal that which book is in which room and which shelf. Seminar halls, conference halls and convocations are also very big and dreamy. Sports: here we have a big gymkhana ground, canteens: each hostel has its own canteen open till 4 in the morning and it serves tasty food that too at low rates. I think I like all buildings and natural things over here, but IG, the main building is oldest building of college and is really worth visiting and memorizing.

IIT is very famous for its biggest student organized event, mood indigo the Asia's largest student organized fest along with that tech-fest, E-summit all are Asia's largest fests. These all are conducted and maintained by students only from celebs to fund all maintained and run by students themselves. Along with that so many tech teams, UMIC, AUV, rocket, satellite IG a lot more, clubs like ISC, dance, music, drama, fashion, etc. are also present. Not only this, along with that each department also has it's fest like Mechanza, Aakar, Azeotropy and so many other. Each department offers great opportunities to the students who have interest in the core section of the course. College has so many things outside class that makes it unique. Students hold pros and make their profile grow.
