LSR Delhi: Succeeding with CUET UG

Life at LSR will always be cherished by me for the opportunities, people, and lessons I have got. It gave an unparalleled experience that shaped me who I am today. This college was always my priority amongst DU colleges. The academic legacy and overall experience it provided was unparalleled and will always be. There is a special place in my heart for the college as it not only helped me to realize my full potential but nurtured my holistic personality.

The course I pursued was the BA Program in History and Sociology. The course was the intersection of not just these two major subjects. It also gave the flexibility to choose from other options as well, which helps one to taste every subject they want to study in good depth. As of now to get into the college, one has to appear for CUET UG. A good score is needed to break into tier 1 college. Further, three-year course divided into 6 semesters had examinations for each semester. The rigorous and multidisciplinary course helped to gain real-life Research writing, time management skills.

Being a college deemed under a central university and as an institute, the fee for a year was quite minimal. For a year, the total fee varied from Rs. 16,000 to Rs. 17,000. Further, financial aid in the form of scholarships and fee waivers are also provided to students from economically weaker sections.

The faculty had an immense amount of experience in their respective domains, having studied the subjects from faculties who integrate words with real life made the learning experience wholesome. The teaching methodology varied from faculty to faculty. Some preferred PPT while some liked more interaction in the class through asking questions to make the lecture more engaging. At present, the student to teacher ratio was lower but it never became a challenge in terms of quality of teaching. In terms of bonding, the faculty members were quite approachable and helpful whenever asked for help.

The college has a reputation in terms of the placements it offers. Our college receives one of the highest placement packages amongst the DU college. There is a dedicated placement cell for the active help and up skilling of students. It conducts various placement related session and guide students to crack internships and placements at reputed companies.

The college offers residential facilities to only first-year students. I personally never had experience of living in a college hostel. From what I know, it is pretty well maintained along with the quality of food. For the safety and security of females, two wardens keep in check the incoming and outgoing timings of students. There is strict regulation regarding hostel timings and no one other than hostel students is allowed to enter.

LSR New Delhi comprises two buildings one Old and the other New as we call them. Old building as the name suggests was the initial building that had decent classrooms along with tutorial rooms. There are green lush gazebos in between. In terms of other facilities, the college has a medical room along with a mental health resource available for the overall betterment of students. It also has a canteen, Nescafe, and Mother Dairy to fulfill your sweet cravings and love for coffee. The most favorite places of the college are lawns, undoubtedly. Sitting in the bright, green lawns filled with a variety of flowers and trees along with a cup of iced tea is one of the best memories I have had.

The overall experience is good that is all because of the like-minded and ambitious peers. The college offers multiple clubs and societies. There is something or the other happening on the campus, which makes it livelier to be there. There are societies from performing arts to academic forums to help in the holistic development of students. However, one has to go through the selection rounds to be a part of society. The most awaited time for each year is Tarang, the annual cultural fest of the college. All of this makes the experience wholesome, and worthy of every single minute spent there. Having passed out I still miss each day of my college and would wish to live it again (if there was a way to do so).
