IIT BHU Admission Process: JEE, JoSAA, and More

My overall experience in IIT BHU is very good. It is a very great institute in every aspect. The main factor for which I selected the institute is placements. Placement are excellent for every branch. There is a chill academic life here with option for branch change after 1st sem and at last. Biggest advantage is that it is located in Banaras. It is also known for its excellent ROI and biggest alumni network, also great start-up startup culture (8 unicorns from our institute). It is also very chill from other IITs. Academic life and lenient attendance policy are favorable. There is an excellent sports infrastructure, fests culture, etc.

I chose B.Tech in Pharmaceutical Engineering. Due to excellent placement with average above 20 LPA. The course was also very chill and opportunity for branch change and focusing and skills and extracurricular. For entry, you have to give JEE Mains & Advanced and rank below 14k is required for admission in B.Tech through open seats. Admission process is simple and through JoSAA counseling (online) and then physical registration at starting of institute. Exams are conducted twice in a semester: mid sem and end sem. There are also regular quizzes and vivas are taken as necessary. Academics are good. all the major Engineering subjects in all disciplines are taught until 3 semester and then focus on core branch subjects. if anyone has interest in core great for them, but if not necessary it will help in your future. regular assessments and exams will prepare you and make pressure nothing for you.

Fees per semester is Rs. 1,06,350 plus mess fee for Rs. 15,000 for all B.Tech students. If your income is between 1 to 5 LPA, your fee will be Rs. 39,683.00 and Rs 15,000 mess fee. In addition, if less than 1 LPA, then there is only Rs. 6,350 plus mess fee. If you are from SC/ST/PwD category, education fee will be Rs. 6,050 and mess fees Rs. 15,000. In addition, there are numerous scholarship programs based on merit, reservation, and income both by institute and government also by alumni's.

Faculties are very well qualified in IIT BHU. All have PhDs and research background from reputed foreign and Indian universities. Most faculties are cool and approachable but some are little strict. Teaching is done using both PPTs in projector and blackboards, and tutorial are solved by match and PhD students. Teacher student ratio is above average. I have great bonding with some them but some are not that approachable and are strict.

Placement cell is working very hard and results are showing every year. It organizes regular talks with industry experts and top management of minces. it provides detail report of placement statistics to get knowledge of necessary skills and companies allowing branches, CGPA, and package. Renowned companies that visit are Google, Microsoft, Atlassian, Scalar, Goldman Sacs, JP Morgan, Morgan Staley, Graviton, Samsung, PayPal, Amazon, Nvidia, Adobe, Mckinsey, Uber, Oracle, Mercedes, JLR, etc. for both internship and placement.

We have total of 17 hostels for all students. Hostels are very good and well maintained. There are ample of recreational activities present in hostel like TT, badminton, carom, etc. Presently, 1st and 2nd year three sitting and 3rd, 4th and 5th two sitting rooms are given. PhD students get personal rooms. Girl’s and boy’s hostel are separate. Mess food is very good with variety. There are three times a day with special meals on 3 days a week both veg and non-veg. we can change menu according to our needs. Hostel timing for 1st sybarites is 10:30 PM and for others, no restrictions. My personal experience is very good and i like the freedom given to us, each and every staff at hostel is well mannered. But three sitting should be changes to two sitting for 1st and 2nd yearites.

Campus size is very big 1300 acres. You will need cycle to roam or a bike. Campus is located in Bhelupur Varanasi in BHU. There are 16 departments and 3 schools. each has its own building 4 lecture theater buildings where classes happen with capacity of 150 students and a hall of 400 capacities. We have a library, labs in each department an auditorium known as Swatantra Bhavan, seminar hall, theater, etc. We have student activity center, which has gym and state of the care facility for indoor games. for outdoor sports, we have separate cricket, hockey, football , handball, and an athletic ground. Other outdoor sports like lawn tennis, volleyball, kabaddi, kho-kho, basketball, etc. are also present. Medical facility is also great and free of cost. ambulance is always ready and standing health center provides consultation, medicines, or tests free of cost. All the hostels have two or three canteen, which are open till 4 AM at the night. each corner of campus has a fruit shop and snacks shop. We also have vending machines in each hostel. Security is good with enough trained guards and patrol vehicles. Cacti covers whole campus. Gym is also my favorite. Reading room and computer lab in library is my favorite spot during exams.

I love IIT BHU and there is no doubt about it and my decision. Overall campus life is very good. crowd has very bright students from all over India. There are various clubs like music, dance, cinematography, photography, fashion, design, literature, etc. There are scientific clubs like quant, programming, aeromodelling, automobiles, robotics, business, astronomy, etc. I am part of aeromodelling club and quiz club. it is a wonderful experience, we take part in various competitions all over India. We have four major fests Kashiyatra (cultural), FMC weekend (digital arts), Technex (techno management), Spardha (sports). All the major festivals are celebrated in the campus with zeal. Institute life is very fun and each day something unique, focus on extracurricular is also balanced. I will recommend every JEE aspirant to join IIT BHU.
