IIIT Kota: Campus Facilities and Student Life

Indian Institute of Information Technology is a tier 2 college which was previously situated in MNIT Jaipur but now it has its own campus building at Ranpur, Kota. Based on the outskirts of the city, it has poor connectivity but is in constant growing phase. I chose this college because it was newly made and shifted so our batch thought it will in MNIT Jaipur. Overall, my experience is neutral. It has its own facilities and club but is in growing stage where multiple things are yet to be built and constructed.

I chose Computer Science and Engineering at Indian Institute of Information Technology because I was adamant of pursuing this branch and hence it is the reason of joining this college. Admission at IIIT Kota is done by JOSAA and CSAB counseling rounds based on your JEE score and Rank. We have 2 major exams each semesters- mid-semester and end-semester. There are total 8 semesters in the course. The exams are quite lethargic and you can't depend on classes. You have to read books or watch YouTube videos for good grades. Apart from that, you have to develop your skills. Your seniors will help you here. Faculties are less encouraging and helpful nature.

Its approximately (tuition fees) Rs. 1,11,000/- and (hostel + mess) fee is Rs. 38,000/- per semester. First year fee is a bit higher. This is for General category. For others, it’s less. There are certain scholarships to avail based on your domicile and income. Some of them are- NSP, reliance foundation, etc.

Some faculties at Indian Institute of Information Technology are good and really dedicated but majority of them are mediocre art their work. They are mostly assistant professors from MNIT. They teach using boards and sometimes use ppt. They won’t easily give you grades and will scare you about exams and strictly make you follow the attendance. There are very less teachers, around 20-30 in entire college. Few teachers are still in MNIT and teach using online mode.

There is a student placement cell at Indian Institute of Information Technology which helps in bringing companies. There aren't much activities going on currently as we are facing issues due to our campus shifting. Packages offered by them usually lies in the range of 20-8 LPA.

Indian Institute of Information Technology has hostels but hostels are facing accommodation issues currently. First year girls get 2 seater and boys 4 seater rooms. From second year, we get single and double seater. Mess food is comparatively nice with decent hygiene. Hostel fee is Rs. 38,000/- which also includes mess. For girls, 10pm-10:30pm is the in time. Hostels are good, clean and friendly. Though, sometimes we face LAN, water and electricity issues but it’s quite common everywhere.

As its newly made, infrastructure is beautiful and clean. Indian Institute of Information Technology campus is quite small, not very large. No outdoor sport facilities are provided. We have a single ground. Indoor activities are available along with gym for both hostels. There is a medical van running for students. My favorite part of college is my comforting hostel and that blocks meeting area. These few or minimum facilities do give homely vibes now but it can be improved.

Campus life is good until and unless you are settled. It totally depends on you and the friends you make throughout. There are several active clubs too with their events for all. We have a tech summit and annual fest in our college. Fest culture is yet to be improved and established.
