IIT Roorkee A college of dreams

Overall Rating
IIT Roorkee is an amazing college with top class infrastructure and state of the art technology! It ranks 6th in engineering colleges in India according to NIRF. Established in 1847, it is one of Asia's oldest engineering colleges. It was inaugurated by Sir James Thomason as a civil engineering college for the Ganga Canal. I chose this college because it is the oldest engineering institute in India with a wide alumni network. Others should join too because it has everything required from faculty to good hostels and infrastructure.
 

Academics Rating
To enter IIT Roorkee one need to clear JEE Advanced for B.Tech and integrated courses. It has the best civil engineering department in the country. For CSE courses a rank of around 400 is required for general candidate. My course is electrical and a rank of 2000 is required for that. It is a tough course with midterm and end term exams. Mostly, circuital branches have good placements, so it is better to be in these branches if considering for placements.
 

Faculty Rating
The faculty of this institute is above average but not top class. There will be some teachers whose classes you won’t understand but this college has extremely talented and well researched teachers as well. Most of the teachers will be north Indian and will give lectures in English. They also have many project works under their belt and you can get into it too.
 

Placement Rating
Yes, the placement cell is active in our college and brings great core and noncore companies to our college like Da Vinci Derivatives, Google, Graviton, Samsung, Bajaj, Amazon, Sprinklr, Jaguar, JP Morgan, QUALCOMM, etc.
 

Hostel Rating
Yes, residential facilities are available and the hostels are one of the best in the country which include mess facility and washer men facility as well. It has day as well as night canteens. There are numerous grounds and courts for tennis, squash and badminton. Overall a good place to live in with beautiful scenery.
 

Infrastructure Rating
State of the art buildings, with a magnificent main building called the james thomason building which is the major centre of attraction. A central library and a department for every course are present. It also has fire safety buildings and an internal police as well. Lecture halls each with capacity of at least 250 students is there. There is a multi activity and a student activity centre as well.
 

Campus Rating
IIT Roorkee offers you a campus life that you will cherish for long. It has clubs for every activity from cooking to coding. It boasts of fests like Thomso, Esummit and Cognizance. The best of the minds come here and people are good to talk to. I bet you will never stay in your hostel room and would always be with your helpful seniors and friends.

    The campus is excellent in terms of infrastructure, academics, environment and overall facilities. It is the oldest engineering institute in Asia with a legacy of more than 175 years.     Studying at Indian Institute of Technology, Roorkee has been a great experience so far. Due to presence of India's most brilliant minds, the competition here is too tough which provides us an environment to grow naturally. The academics here are very strong, with some professors being descent to some being excellent. Courses are challenging too.
