My Life in NIT Calicut

Overall Rating
I can say that my first year in NIT Calicut has been good. I chose this institute because it was near to my hometown and NIRF ranking. I can proudly say that I made a good choice. It is good in both academic and extracurricular activities. I participated in inter-NIT Football and Handball tournament and I went to different NITs, I can say that Calicut is better than others are.
 

Academics Rating
I chose EPEE because for my JEE rank. To get into this institute, you need at least 96-percentile. admission process is not that much complicated. In B.Tech, we have lot of exams in one semester such as internals, practical, viva, mid-sem, and end-sem. The academics will make you tough since academic pressure is quite high. If you want to be in the top in this institute, you have to work hard.
I paid nearly 3 Lakh for first year (including hostel fee). For different categories (as per EWS), there is concession.
 

Faculty Rating
Faculties are good. They are of top quality. The method of teaching is using PPTs and blackboard. Problem solving ability of faculty is top notch but some can improve. I also wish they were less biased.
 

Placement Rating
Placement is good. This year, highest package was around 44 Lakh Per Annum and average CTC is around 12 LPA.
 

Hostel Rating
Hostel is very good. They have maintained the hostel in a good way and food in the hostel is top notch. At the starting, there were restrictions but now no restrictions are there.
 

Infrastructure Rating
Infrastructure of NIT Calicut needs to be improved. Our campus buildings are bit old but now many new building are being built. Most of the equipment in the labs is old. Even though the buildings are old, they are maintained well and campus is very good looking. There are canteens inside the campus. There is a place in the campus called amphitheater where we can chill with friends.
 

Campus Rating
Campus life is superb in a campus. There are many events like Tathva and Ragam. ‘Ragam’ is South India’s largest cultural festival and ‘Tathva’ is tech fest. There are many clubs in institute most of them are different. You can join in any of them from second year. Apart from these two major fests, many other programs are organized throughout the year. When we compare campus life with others, we are far ahead for sure. All these fests are conducted by students.

    I recently completed my first year in NIT Calicut and I can say that my first year was perfect. You can get admission in NIT Calicut through JOSAA counselling if you have good rank in all India JEE examination. First year was full of enjoyment as academically there is not so much pressure.     After one year of hard work in entrance coaching, I got into NIT Calicut. Since I have entered here, I think my life is somewhat busy. I chose this institute because it has promising placements and it is near my home. There are many programs in institute to keep you engaged throughout the year.     I joined NIT Calicut after securing my admission through JOSAA after scoring good marks in examination. I chose this institute since it is near to my home. The campus is so beautiful and every now and then, there is a program in the institute, which I think, does not happen in most institutes.     I chose Electronic and Communication Engineering. I chose this branch as it is in 5th in rank among all the other NITs. The campus life in is so good. Even though we have so much work, life here is very good and calm. You will never regret choosing this one.
