My Candid Views on Sona College of Technology Salem

Overall Rating
I am a 1st year graduate of Sona College of Technology and I really like this college. The campus environment, academics, placements, etc. everything is great. You can read when you need and you can enjoy too. Faculties are the best and lab facilities are nicely provided. I have always been fond of Mechanics and Electronics, so I chose to take Mechatronics in this college. I think I've made a perfect choice in my life.
 

Academics Rating
The eligibility criteria to get into this college are through TNEA counseling and through management quota. If you have good marks (above 150) then you will surely get good branches in here, they provide scholarships also, the frequency of exams are like per semester we will be having 3 internal exams which you'll have to definitely pass. The academics prepare me well for real life challenges.
The TNEA quota fee will be collected as per government norms. Then for management quota, my department, Mechatronics Engineering have Rs. 1,50,000 as their tuition fee and donation fee for my branch is just Rs. 50,000. Scholarships are also funded and they give specific scholarships for SC category and high cut off students.
 

Faculty Rating
To talk about faculties, all are very professional and each of them has PhDs and master’s degrees in their own specific fields. Their problem solving skills are good, they teach through PPTs, word of mouth, and through lecture videos. Some of the teachers lack at their language proficiency but still they don't lack at their subject proficiency, which is a notable point in here. Students and teachers have a good bonding on asking doubts and explaining concepts as well.
 

Placement Rating
We have Salem city’s best placements. Most of the core companies like, Embedded UR, UNO Minda, JSW Steel, etc. come to our college. Recently our Mechanical students have been placed for 9.5 LPA in JSW Steel. We also have Japanese placement training cells.
 

Hostel Rating
We have 3 types of hostels; boys, girls, and for NRI students as more Nepal students come to learn to our college. Pure vegetarian food is provided and they are good when compared to other colleges. Hostel fees are based on rooms, like Rs. 87,000 for 8 member sharing, Rs. 89,000 for 6 sharing and Rs. 1,00,000 for 3 members sharing. It is applicable for girl’s hostel too, but when it comes to NRI, Rs. 25,000 will be extra. Boys have their liberty to wander everywhere, but should come to hostel by 8.00 PM.
 

Infrastructure Rating
We have different blocks for different departments; no departments are kept under same buildings. Security is always quite strict it seems. We have a big Sona library, which is the biggest in the Salem region, in that we have digital library also. All international and national books are seen in the library. 2 open auditoriums and 1 big Sri Valliappa auditorium is present, we also have a big cricket ground, football ground, seminar halls, incubation centers, and department specific labs in the college.
 

Campus Rating
I'm enjoying my life in Sona college, I don't regret my choice on behalf of choosing this campus, I love to study here. I'm experiencing a good socio environment and social connections with my valuable seniors. We have fun clubs like Techathina, Sonaria, etc. KRIVVAS is our cultural fest. English language and Tamil language clubs are also present in our campus.

    I am a first year student (batch 2024-28) from Karur, near Salem. This college has great liberty for students who get average to high marks. If you are a local in Salem, this college is a wonderful option as it is number 1 in Salem (private). Scoring 30/50 in monthly exams is decent enough for teachers.     Overall Rating
    This institution has very knowledgeable professors and teachers. They are very kind except some teachers. The college gives you full freedom that you can go outside for important works and this college canteen has some excellent snacks for the students. This institution is best for students who prefer to stay in Salem and pursue a degree and it has some excellent placements as well. This college has excellent and friendly teachers.     The experience in Sona College of Technology Salem is quite nice. I joined this university in 2024 by 12th marks. I thought joining this college is hard but it is quite simple. I suggest my junior to join this college for the Infrastructure and many things I appreciate this college for the teaching qualities of teachers and friendly attitude of them.
