BHU Varanasi's Cut-Off for B.Com (Hons.) is Approximately 510+ / 650

Studying commerce and specially Financial Market Management at BHU Varanasi has been an eye opening experience. I choose this course for its practical focus on today's financial world and also expert faculty guiding us throughout. The course is engaging and career oriented. The reason I chose this University was its good NIRF ranking. It's rich culture and vibrant campus life attracts people.

The course of Financial Market Management is quite demanding and new. Its future prospects are very high. For getting admission into this University, one need to appear for the CUET UG exam and score qualifying marks. To get admission to this course, marks of accountancy, business studies and general test are evaluated. The overall cut-off for this course goes up to 510+ / 650. The admission process is all online and one just needs to come to the University for physical verification of documents. The exams in this course are held each semester with mid-semester and weekly tests.

The yearly fee of my course is around Rs. 30,000/- per year with the fees being around Rs. 16,000/- per semester which is inclusive of all other kind of fees. Moreover, this University also offers paid courses for students who have scored low marks but still want to get admission. No particular scholarship is provided by the University.

The faculty of Commerce has great professors and all of them hold Ph.D degrees. There are also Ph.D scholars who teach in place of professors at sometimes. The teaching method is a mix of theory and practical understanding, the professors explain the concepts clearly and often with real life examples. The faculty is very supportive when it comes to doubt and problem-solving. Apart from studies, that there is also a counselor who sees after the mental well-being of the students. The teachers’ student ratio is somewhat around 2:75.

The University offers residential facilities to students who come here from different states and also to foreign students. The facilities provided for international students are great including personal kitchen bathroom, wardrobe, furniture and living room at very minimal fee. Apart from that, Indian students are also provided hostels which are granted on the basis of merit and also the distance of the University from your hometown. The fees for hostels stay ranges from around Rs. 3000/- to Rs. 5000/- in almost all hostels and the mess charges are around Rs. 3500/- to Rs. 4000/- per month. The hostel rules for boys hostels are quiet lenient with it being an open campus but curfew time for girls’ hostel is 10 PM. The mess food is of average quality and is quiet repetitive.

Sayaji Rao Gaikwad library is a landmark of the Institution on campus as it serves a central role for BHU Varanasi library system. It encompasses over lacs of books, manuscripts, journals, e-books, etc. The seating capacity of the library is around 850 seats with many renovations made recently which has increased the number of seating capacity. The faculty of Commerce also has an auditorium of its own and an annexure hall, a conference hall, a seminar hall, etc. are also available along various classes having good infrastructure. My favorite part of the college infrastructure is the Vishwanath Temple.

The crowd is a mix of students from all parts of India which makes the environment very lively and inclusive. There are several clubs of activities like music, dance, drama, debating, etc. which can be joined by the students. There are also several extra-curricular tournaments that are held where many students participate in to showcase their skills. The annual fest ‘Aakansha’ is a lively youth festival which generally occurs in mid-January. There are also several clubs on Marketing, Finance, etc. which one can join.
