IIT Roorkee: Best Experience

Overall Rating
My campus life at IIT Roorkee has been vibrant and memorable. The crowd is talented, competitive and diverse. I enjoyed each and every moment in this campus. There are numerous technical and cultural festivals, and sports festivals that are held here. I actively participated in sports and few cultural events. At our campus, the Thomason building is very famous because it is 177 years old. The Institute received 7th rank by NIRF 2025 in 'Overall' Category. Overall, my campus life has been exciting, balanced and personally enriching.
 

Academics Rating
I chose Computer Science because I have a very keen interest in programming and problem solving. Admission required a good rank in JEE Advanced. There are two exams every semester, along with quizzes and assignments. The academics and projects here are rigorous enough to build strong analysis, coding, and real world problem solving skills, hence, preparing me effectively for software jobs and competitive working environments. Our campus is academic friendly.
In our Institution, tuition fee is Rs. 1,50,000/- and for SC/ST students it will be around Rs, 50,000/- per semester. Moreover, merit scholarships are also provided which can be around Rs. 10,000/- to Rs. 15,000/- per semester.
 

Faculty Rating
The faculty at our campus in my course is highly qualified, with good academic backgrounds and industrial experience, with a number of them holding a Ph.D. from top Universities in the World. The teaching methodology includes green board teaching, PPTs, group discussions, and course tutorials. Their approach to problem solving is concept based and research oriented. The teacher to student ratio is quite balanced. My interaction with them as been pretty smooth because most of the professors are approachable, supportive and open towards academic and career guidance
 

Placement Rating
IIT Roorkee’s Placement cell trains the students via Mock Interviews, Resume sessions, Internship and Placement drives, attracting recruiters like top companies. Average package is 15 LPA. My experience was structured and supportive.
 

Hostel Rating
Campus provides separate boys and girls hostels with thousands of rooms, gyms, playgrounds, garden areas, study spaces and common areas. Hostel fee is included in semester fee, no need to pay separately for the mess. Mu hostel life is very much comfortable, disciplined and socially enriching.
 

Infrastructure Rating
Our Institute, comprising an area of 358.5 acres of lush greenery, has very well planned academic blocks that blend their heritage with modern architecture. The classrooms have digital boards, projectors, and good seating capacity. The central library, state of art labs, seminar halls and auditoriums support research and learning. Canteens, sports clubs, medical stores, hospital, transport and strong security add a comfort. Everyone’s favourite place in our campus is the Thomason main building.
 

Campus Rating
My life at my campus has been vibrant and full of memories. The crowd here is talented, competitive, diverse and also helpful too. There are numerous technical, cultural and sports clubs. I actively participated in sports and few cultural events. The institute organizes a regular series of tech workshops, competitions, cultural nights, and cognizance fests. Overall my campus life has been exciting, balanced and enriched personally. I am thankful to this campus. I love IIT Roorkee.

    My personal experience at this Institute is great. I have completed my first year. This is one of the reputed Institutes and it is one of the factors why I chose it.     IIT Roorkee is one of the oldest Institution in India. Many students take admission this Institute.     IIT Roorkee is India's premier institute for education. My experience is very good. You met people from different background and learn a lot about other's cultures.
