Exploring Student’s life in DEC Dumka

Overall Rating
My overall experience in this College is very good. It is a little far from my home but I got free seat, that’s why I chose this College for me and it turned out to be best college for me. To get a free seat you have to get good marks in entrance exam JCECE (Jharkhand Combined Entrance Competitive Examination Board). There are many better Colleges than this but it provides best fee structure and preference for students.
 

Academics Rating
It was my childhood dream to study engineering that’s the reason I chose this course for myself. For admission, I appeared for the B.Tech lateral entry exam in JCECE. Since I am a Diploma holder and the Jharkhand Government conducts an exam for admission directly into the second year of University. After giving that exam, I got good marks and then my counselling done in this College. My friends from diploma days were also studied here so it becomes easy for me to know the process of admission.
I submitted my security deposit of Rs. 5,000/- and my semester fee is Rs. 39,600/-. I also got a scholarship because I am from OBC category and I was free seat eligible candidate so both the ways it benefitted me.
 

Faculty Rating
My faculty members are very good. The entire faculty of DEC Dumka have good background with great experience. Teacher’s way of teaching is very good and they teach with practical examples so you have to pay attention in the class. The student ratio is also very good. There are few teachers with whom I have a very different bonding level. They help me in solving all of my problems. They are ready to help in every best way possible.
 

Placement Rating
The placement of our College is bit average. The Placement Cell is very active but it can be improved more. The College has tie-ups with companies like Tata, TCS, and others.
 

Hostel Rating
College provides residential facilities for girls and boys both. Hostels are located at different places and mess facilities are available. The hostel fee has been changed and now it is Rs. 21,000/-. In each room 3 students live together. Mess fee is Rs. 100/- per day and they provide 2 meals and 2 snacks per day.
 

Infrastructure Rating
DEC Dumka has 3 to 4 blocks which are away from the main campus. Each branch has its own library in separate blocks for students. Auditorium is very big. There is a canteen. If we talk about medical facilities they are 24/7 available for students. There is large ground where students can play sports. There is badminton court which is inside the hostel. My personal favourite place is the library because it is a peaceful environment.
 

Campus Rating
My overall experience with my College is very good. It becomes crowded when classes are going. Till now there is no such thing as clubs for students. Engagement activities are organised by the College on Independence Day and Republic Day. There is a sports day once a year and an annual fest in which many famous singers are invited and they provide opportunity for creative students to participate in it.

    The Dumka Engineering College, Dhumka is honestly a decent place for students who want a peaceful environment to study in and I think the reason is that it is managed by Techno India Group (as Private-Public Partnership). I chose this College because the fee is affordable and also it is a Government Institution so the education quality is better compared to many private ones.     This is a Public-Private Partnership Institute as it has 5 branches such as Mechanical Engineering, Civil Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Electronics & Communication Engineering, and Computer Science & Engineering. More than 3 branches are NAAC & NBA accredited as well. The College provides both free seat and payment seat based on Government & private partnership.
