An Honest Outlook on Chandigarh University

Overall Rating
My overall experience at the University was good. It has good campus life and several events. My course was Digital Marketing which was new at that time and wasn’t offered by other Institutes. I also got 15 percent scholarship. Other University I applied to was a bit expensive and had different course. Campus life is good as I mentioned and several fests are organised which includes many events like dance, singing, acting, and all kinds of sports activities. They also have very good infrastructure. As per NIRF 2025, Chandigarh University Chandigarh Recieved 32nd Rank in ‘Management’ Category
 

Academics Rating
I opted for Digital Marketing which had a good study plan but there was a lot of theoretical knowledge. There is no eligibility criteria and any one can get admission in the University. You can also give CUCET exam for scholarships. They were punctual in taking tests and two MSTs were conducted in each semester with assignments and final examination. Marking was very lenient. They give marks literally of free. Only a few teachers were strict.
The course fee was Rs. 60,000/- per semester. Moreover, scholarships were provided in the first year and were only retained if you scored 7.5 CGPA every year. If you got any backlog, your scholarship would be gone. We had to pay Rs. 2000/- as examination fee but now it’s Rs. 2500/-. They also used to give scholarships to SC/ST category students. If you got detained, you had to give summer or winter term which was very costly.
 

Faculty Rating
A few faculty members were good, experienced, and knowledgeable. There were at least 70 to 80 students in each class. Groups were divided into two for practical classes. Personally, there was great bonding with the faculty but not every faculty member’s method of teaching was up to my liking.
 

Placement Rating
Placements at my time in my batch was not upto the mark. Mostly, Sales companies came for hiring. Once you get placement you are blocked from other companies and you won’t get shortlisted. Most of the companies offered Rs. 20,000/- to Rs. 30,000/- of salary but few gave more. In 2024, there was recession so placements were not good. In MBA, companies like Deloitte and KPMG came. But MBA students were also struggling in placements and many got Sales or outside their domain jobs. They were not satisfied. Hostel Rating
There were hostel facilities at Chandigarh University but only few who came in first year and were early could get them. There was a lot of shortage of rooms. I stayed outside. Mess food was decent they got 5 star rating and cleanliness was maintained. Girls and boys hostels were separate. In the Zakir hostel, there were 5 people in each room. Most of them stayed outside. Now hostel fees are nowhere less than Rs. 1,30,000/- annually. They also provided Gym and Reading Rooms for them.
 

Infrastructure Rating
The Chandigarh University Chandigarh campus are is around 150 acres & located in the remote area. Canteen was there in every block. Separate Food Court was there which was a bit expensive. But there were other shops around the campus. There were around 80 students in each class and a Library in each block. The D6 Library was my favourite. There was also a Research Centre and a Lab for Aeronautics Department.
 

Campus Rating
Overall campus life was very good. After I graduated, they organised some clubs in each specialisation. Every year, ‘CU FEST’ was held which included all types of activities. The University is very crowded there are at least 60,000 students. One last honest review is that most of the students come only here for 75% attendance. People are very selfish you need to be aware of them since day one.

    The factor that made me choose Chandigarh University is its affordable course fee as compared to other law Universities. Overall the course is having a great curriculum with practical and theoretical knowledge. The University provides internship and placement assistance as internship from second semester onwards.     My experience at Chandigarh University is wonderful and memorable. It focuses more on practical and that doesn't mean it avoid theory, it balance the theory and practical. For a Law student, it's necessary that there is practical exposure with theoretical knowledge. One of the main reasons that made me to opt for this university is great infrastructure, faculty members are quite seasoned, and the course is quite tailored to fit the contemporary demands for the legal industry.     I chose Chandigarh University because of the reputation it holds. The campus is really huge, and infrastructure is top notch. Each and every facility is available in the campus. As a law student, the law building is well equipped with big library and a good moot court which gives a vibe of a real court. Curriculum is designed in a really good way. Overall University is good.
