Quality of Education at UPES Dehradun

Overall Rating
The best thing about the University of Petroleum and Energy Studies Dehradun is that management of the University treats everyone equally whether you are a newbie or a senior. I am almost done with my University life and the valuable knowledge alongwith the memories that I have created here will always stay with me. This University always felt like a home and now when I am finally about to leave, it feels like I will be leaving one home of mine.
 

Academics Rating
I pursued the B.Tech in CSE course and even in this branch, there are various specializations. UPESEAT (UPES Engineering Aptitude Test) was made mandatory in 2022 and besides having 70% in PCM, one also has to clear the entrance exam. Even after having so many seats, the entrance exam was tough and the competition was high too. Exams were conducted twice a year including mid-sem and end-sem besides the monthly class tests. From 3rd year onwards, we were given industrial projects too.
This University is perhaps, one of the most expensive Universities in Dehradun. My annual course fee was around Rs. 5,00,000/-.
 

Faculty Rating
The faculty at UPES Dehradun is well-experienced. Their way of teaching is engaging and they try to make all their lectures interesting.The University has ensured that experts are hired and they shouldn't just stick to the syllabus but also teach things beyond the syllabus too. The faculty members have passed on knowledge in such a way that we develop a clear vision.
 

Placement Rating
The 2025-2026 placements were lesser than 2024-2025 but still many students touched over the 40 LPA mark. Around 70% CSE students were placed from our batch and the placements activities are still on.
 

Hostel Rating
Hostels were good but I shifted to a PG after the first year because the curfew time was too strict.
 

Infrastructure Rating
One should search the Glasgow University images and then search University of Petroleum and Energy Studies Dehradun images on the internet. One will find a lot of common things as our buildings and even the roads & Gardens are built similar to them. Sports facilities are good and a lot of choices are given to the students. There are multiple Cafeterias as well.
 

Campus Rating
Overall campus life is enjoyable. If Sports fest ends, Hackathon begins and once that ends, the annual fest ‘Uurja’ starts. Everyone's favourite, Mame Khan performed last year and likewise, every year top artists are invited to perform. DJ nights are organised atleast once every semester. Coding Club has the maximum number of students and I was also a part of that. We sourced a lot of live projects and always delivered them on time. From learning to making the best use of our leisure time, we did it all at this University.

    My overall experience at University of Petroleum and Energy Studies is really good till now. the serene vibes and the cool and calm atmosphere of the area is just wonderful. The students are really ambitious and are really hard working. The people here are really good.     Overall the college is better than most private Universities in Uttrakhand. The faculty is good at teaching. UPES provides internship opportunities which are also to be taken in consideration when applying here. I chose UPES because of their placements and the location of college.     In UPES, the teachers are very helpful and the campus ambience is very serene calm and beautiful. It is free from the city rush. It UPES regularly conducts fests and workshops for the students. I found the zero tolerance policy towards the ragging very helpful. You can play sports of your choice. Even if you are a newbie the other students will treat you nicely.... Read Full Review

    Overall, the university is pretty good. The campus life is actually really wonderful and enjoyable. The facilities provided in the campus can be mediocre for some people, but in my opinion they are mostly decent. The academics are also good and library is really well equipped with almost all the books we will need in this journey.
