Calcutta University M.Com Review By Aayushi Sinha

After my graduation, I wanted to go for Post-graduation so there was these two options for my area of interest i.e., M.Com in Accounting and Finance or M.B.A in Finance. I took M.Com as an option. As I was already a student of University of Calcutta, I took admission in the same University but this time not from any college but itself in the University. When the results declared in July 2018 of my graduation. I filled the form for the M.Com course in the same University. I got admitted in the University in September and our classes resumed from 10th September. There were two shifts in my course day and evening. I took evening course as I was working as an Article Assistant in CA firm. Timings are flexible. There are 6 days classes a week.

As I was already a student in the University, I just had to secure a minimum of 60% in graduation program for a direct admission in this course. So I got more than 60% and I got admission easily in the M.Com course. For other students who were outsiders for the University, they had to give an entrance examination for getting an admission in the college. If they pass in the entrance examination they get admitted to the course.

The faculty for each subject was very innovative and creative. They give lectures and also gave examples for each topic they teach us. They were friendly and also if students face any problem in any of the subjects. They can directly take professors Whatsapp number and are available for 24*7 for the students. Students can also go to staff rooms for their clean understanding of their subject. They were welcomed anywhere by the Professors.

University of Calcutta has a large infrastructure in the College street, Kolkata, surrounded by beautiful trees, a public library, 8-9 buildings and enough parking spaces in the campus. In 2019, building was renovating and construction was in- progress. It's 3 floor building + ground. There is a lift for students, staffs and professor. There were so many sections for other course also in the same building.

University of Calcutta has a great campus life. They have a canteen where students go in their free time and have fun and gossip. Saraswati Puja is celebrated in the campus every year. Students from other colleges are also invited in the campus. Not only M.Com students, all the courses which are being taught in the University, they all are welcomed at this event. There are sports rooms on campus. Sports tournaments are being held every year in December month. All the students which are affiliated under Calcutta University can also take part in this competition.
