IIT Kharagpur Campus: Photos, Virtual Tour

IIT Kharagpur has good and clean campus with well-equipped infrastructure. The central Library of IIT Kharagpur is one of the finest and largest technical libraries in Asia which is accessed by every students of IIT Kharagpur. IIT Kharagpur campus have Tata Sports complex, Mahatma Gandhi hockey ground, Jnan Ghosh Stadium for various sports and games like hockey, cricket, football, Athletics and have full modernized Aquatic center for sports like Swimming and water Polo. Technology Students Gymkhana acts as a center for numerous extra-curricular and co-curricular activities ranging from sports like badminton, Squash and socio-cultural events.

Life at IIT Kharagpur is excellent most of the times. The experience everyone had at IIT Kharagpur is wide range of people they meet. IIT Kharagpur has 3 fests Kshitij (Tech-fest), Shaurya (Sports fest) and Spring fest (Cultural-fest). The campus features multiple academic blocks, including the expansive ‘Nalanda Complex’, which houses vast classrooms capable of accommodating nearly the entire student body of a particular course. Classrooms are well-equipped and air-conditioned. The labs are also very good. The central library provides many books. There are separate fields and stadiums for each sport. If you are interested in sports, you can enjoy a lot. My favorite place is Gymkhana.

My overall campus life is pretty good. The campus offers a beautiful night-life. You can roam in the campus throughout the night and no one will ask a question. There is a specific event called ‘Illumination’ which happens during Diwali every year. It is an event of lights and considered as one of the most prestigious events of the Institute. There are many clubs and societies. I was part of the student-run society called 'GYWS'. There are many events such as hackathons, marathons, dances, musical performances and so on. The campus has had a very eye catching main building. The entrance to it gives one a pleasant feeling. The academic block is near to main building. All the departmental buildings are present in that area. The theory classes mostly occur in the new ‘Nalanda Complex’ which is a huge building with many blocks and classrooms which can almost accommodate the total strength of students at the Institute. All the students buy cycles when they arrive at the Institute, so all the travelling inside the Institute are by these cycles. Campus provides a lot of food spots for students. A student never has to worry about food as he / she could find all the varieties of food inside the campus. Moreover, each and every classroom is air conditioned and have projectors installed.

I am very happy to have gotten into IIT KGP. There are a lot of students in the campus making it vibrant and lively. There are various types of sports facilities provided to the students in the campus. As this is the largest IIT out there, there are a lot of things to explore inside the campus. The Institute provides different societies (clubs). There are even societies that you would have never thought of even (like TeamKART, which is a society which builds test formula prototype cars to participate in various formula bharat competitions). The fests that happen in the campus are out of the world. It is huge experience.Read Full Review
