PEC Chandigarh Hostel Fees: Rooms, Food & Rules

Students seeking admission at Punjab Engineering College (PEC), Chandigarh can avail the on-campus residential facilities as around 6 hostel blocks (Shivalik, Aravali, Vindhya, etc.) are available to separately accommodate boys & girls. The University has recently added a new block within the Shivalik hostel that has nearly 80 rooms.

Hostels at PEC Chandigarh are available for only those students who are applying under ‘Other State Quota’ and the rooms are allotted on a ‘first-come-first-serve’ basis. The PEC Chandigarh hostel fees is Rs. 81,500/- per annum (including room rent , mess, and other charges).

The hostel fee of the Punjab Engineering College includes room rent, mess fee, refundable deposit (one-time), and maintenance charges. Following table includes the PEC Chandigarh hostel fees and additional charges that the students need to pay:

Note: The University may increase the hostel fee every year by up to 10%. Moreover, students are required to pay the hostel fee in the favour of ‘Director, Punjab Engineering College (Deemed-to-be-University)’ which is payable at Chandigarh.

The respective authorities of the University have formed certain rules that residents have to follow to maintain the decorum and peace inside the hostels. If any student is found violating any of the hostel rules then they need to face the consequences of their action.

Some of the PEC Chandigarh hostel rules are listed below:

• Rooms are allotted by the hostel management so students cannot change them without getting prior permission from the authorities.
• Students residing in the hostels must not indulge in any kind of ragging, abuse, harassment or other such activities or strict action will be taken against them.
• Hostels have mandatory curfew timings that both male & female hostellers need to follow.
• Residents are not allowed to use any kind of electrical appliances within their rooms.
• Silence must be maintained within the hostel premises during the specified timings.
• Students should not damage the hostel property as it may lead to fines.

The Deemed University has built around 4 boys hostels namely, ‘Shivalik’, ‘Himalaya’, ‘Kurukshetra’, and ‘Aravali’. Moreover, nearly 2 hostels are there for girls which includes ‘Kalpana Chawla’ and ‘Vindhya’. These hostels are located within the PEC Chandigarh Campus and students get a comfortable living environment as the rooms contain adequate amenities.

Nutritious meals are served to the residents within the mess which is located inside the PEC Chandigarh hostels. Also, Wi-Fi services and mini-libraries are provided to the residents to provide uninterrupted study spaces so that they can focus on their academic performance.

Besides that, the University focuses on the overall growth & development of the hostellers by facilitating them with recreational facilities such as indoor games and common rooms with TV, magazines, and newspapers. Students also get additional facilities like round the clock electricity & water supply and washing machines which makes their stay more comfortable at the hostels.
