COEP Technological University B.Tech Review By Janhavi Kale

Overall I will never forget the way COEP has molded me into a better version of myself. I will always be in debt to COEP. Annual festivals are best to make memories as well as learn new stuff. I also attended technical events like Mindspark, Cultural in events like Impression and Gathering. I also got a chance to perform in an annual fest like stage dance and rapping. It was the best experience of my life. I do not know what I would be, had I not studied at COEP. You might feel I am exaggerating, but it is the truth, in my case.

COEP is an autonomous Engineering College. I am studying Electrical Engineering and as of now I am in the final year of my degree. In our four years of Engineering, we did many unique projects like Management of Domestic Organic Waste, Manure Composting. I genuinely feel that projects like this can really add up to society values. People think that an engineer does nothing. Engineering degree is not worth these days but projects like this really out rule such thoughts and opinions. During our engineering years, the professor will guide students through their research works. I am what I am today because of the teachers who guided me.

To be honest, the teachers' staff in COEP is brilliant. Everyone has some flaws but that does not mean it outweighs their positives. The staff has very good knowledge but I think that their teaching could have been better. But this is just my opinion. We can say, except some of the faculty members, others are good and supportive. Most of the faculty staff is a PhD holder but knowledge and teaching at two different things. The college staff holds a good experience but mostly on college level stuff, like projects and research papers. The guidance they provide students is really valuable and helpful. The faculty is there when a student needs help.

Companies like Google, Microsoft, Goldman Sachs, etc. are there in college to select students for recruitment at the time of placement. The packages they offer are pretty good. But in these last several years, the placements have somewhat reduced. That may be because of the ranking and vice versa. After all, a student must look at all the aspects of the college before taking admission. The college overall is pretty good including all the academic, faculty, hostel, placements, infrastructure but the ratings of the college is dropping since last couple of years. In 2016 its AIR was 21 and now it's somewhat near 50.

The COEP hostel is not so good but the food they provide in hostel mess is really good. I always liked the mess food in COEP hostel. The hostel is near the college. There is the facility of Wi-Fi and LAN. They serve meals 4 times a day in the hostel mess that is breakfast, lunch, snacks and dinner. The hostel is not well maintained though. The hostel really lacks hygiene. Even after all this, every student learns a thing or two in his hostel life. Hostel life cannot be missed at any cost if you are from another city. The friendships and bonds we create in the hostel are lifelong and some of the things in the hostel can never be forgotten.

The newly constructed buildings and the old ones both are well maintained and are neat and clean. Big or small, the college building never matters when the academics and faculties are good. The college has a great canteen and library. Library is loaded with a huge amount of books. The college does not have a gym itself but the hostel has one. College is neither big nor too small. I love my college infrastructure to tell you the truth. Every student has a special place in his heart for his college, so do I. Nothing to deny in that.

Who forgets his or her college campus? The college doesn't need to have big infrastructure, shiny, brand new buildings. But what matters most for every student is the memories he makes in the time he spent learning in the college. Other than the time spent in lectures, the time in college is spent on the campus. What we are going to be in the future is all dependent on what we grasp in our college days. It is always said, no? Everything has two sides bright and dark. COEP does have its negatives but the positive sides of the college can never be ignored.
