Academic culture depends on company. There are groups who prefer chilling out and pursing their interests which is fine, but there are also groups which focus on academics. Most if not all students are helpful although some students will always be there who promote toxic competition. Such people have no place in my life and it's going pretty good so you might consider the same. Overall to be honest all students in a class have been a topper at least once in their life so everyone's pretty sincere and understands the gravity of being here.

Particularly, some subjects have very great teachers, mostly teachers are a little fast but do teach sufficiently if followed, and all teachers appreciate helping us clear doubts. I've noticed particularly theoretical subjects have great teachers, especially basic electrical, physics, chemistry, and maths. I’ve had good teachers in engineering drawing, computer as well, and that's all we need to learn in my opinion. Referral books are rarely useful and if teachers are followed sincerely then the need for self study decreases manifolds. Some teachers are pretty vague like sociology, English teachers, etc. but those subjects are pretty easy and doable individually. Study culture is prevalent and good students are always influential and helpful.
