Jyoti Nivas College MBA Review By Parimala Ar

Jyoti Nivas College is an all-girls college but at least it doesn’t have that many strict rules that my previous Women's Christian College had. The college is affiliated to Bangalore University. The college is located right in the middle of the city and reaching here is quite easy. There are a lot of things to do inside and outside the college. You can participate in research, extracurricular, sports, etc. The academic part of JNC College is just good enough as there was nothing special about it but can’t curse it as well. The infrastructure was adept to cater all our needs and most importantly the college had girls from various parts of Indian and befriending them made me see the entire Indian from their eyes. This was surely the biggest take away from my time at Jyoti Nivas.

I did my UG from Chennai and being a B. Com (Hons) student I already studied economics and some management subjects. The specialization that I chose when I was doing my MBA was HR. This involved having core classes that teach you about management in the first two semesters. After this, I got to get into the specialized subjects of my choice. Some of the electives that I got to take were learning about the legal side of company relations, interpersonal growth, HR in the international view, and leadership building.

The teachers in my department were really helpful. Aside from the lectures during class hours, they also welcomed us to approach them whenever we wanted for any doubts. They genuinely cared and would try to answer our doubts to the best of our abilities. Most of the teachers are pretty strict, and definitely expect a lot from us. Time management comes into play here, and you will have to balance a lot of work at the same time like multiple assignments and projects. There are about 17 teachers for the course that I took. Almost all of them had their PhDs. Attendance is pretty strict in this college so keep that in mind. It will come into play during exam time when they are deciding to allow you or not.

Many big companies come to this college for placements, and it has a pretty reputed name. Jyoti Nivas College placement cell went out of its way to make sure that none of us are left without placements. We were asked multiple times on do we need campus placements and what companies are we targeting. A soft skill test was conducted by the cell and they recommended us on the industry we should target and tell the recruiters on what new can we bring along. Some of the big companies that come to our college include the likes of TCS, Yes Bank, Siemens, and Qatar Airways among others. The average salary in my year of graduation was 6-7 lakhs per annum. The highest was 12 lakhs per annum. The placement rate was 80% which was a high percentage I guess.

Coming to the living situation in this college, there is a single hostel that is located on campus. There is space for about 200 girls to stay. The food provided was excellent and had a menu that was hardly repeated in a week. It consists of both south Indian and north Indian food, and the monthly menu is changed every month. There are basic facilities provided at the hostels like hot water, Wi-Fi, and security. There is adequate space to keep your stuff like each person will get like half a wardrobe and shelf. Jyoti Nivas College Hostel Fees was reasonable and is taken care of by the nuns and the rooms are available on a double, triple, and 4 sharing basis.

This college’s infrastructure was awesome. It has so many facilities, like whatever you can imagine. There is a canteen where you can go for all your cravings. There is a library on the campus where you can go to get books, and it also has sufficient room for you to study there. Usually, during exam time, it is packed with students. There are also different sports fields for sports like basketball, soccer, and running. There is an auditorium and a conference hall. The auditorium is where all the big college events and fests take place. The entire campus has Wi-Fi connectivity and we could easily connect to Wi-Fi from any corner of the college. There is even a meditation room, where you can go for meditating and doing yoga. There are truly a lot of facilities to cater to all your basic needs. The location is central Bangalore and food courts and malls are nearby that can take care of the rest of your needs.

Jyoti Nivas campus was really nice, and the academics were the best. I’m satisfied with the knowledge that I gained here, and I got to make a lot of friends through all the extra-curricular activities and sports opportunities that were provided here. The college fest is called Scintillation and people come here from all over to showcase their talents. It is our annual fest, and the college goes all out with spending and makes it extravagant. In addition to academics, the college also took care of our social life as well.
