BMSCE is the oldest private engineering college in India established in 1946. The campus area is okay being 9 acres in total. The college canteen provides decent food with affordable prices. The college has a decent number of branches under Bachelors in Engineering to pursue, such as- information science engineering, computer science engineering, AI&ML, AI&DS, industrial and management, civil, EIE, ETE, ECE, chemical, mechanical, etc. One can pursue engineering here after qualifying in one of the 2 exams required for admission here – COMEDK (for students residing outside of Karnataka) & KCET (for students residing in Karnataka). These exams are fairly easier than JEE.

The curriculum here in BMSCE is very easy as compared to the other colleges in my knowledge. The curriculum differs for students belonging to different clusters. For example certain topics are omitted in a subject for a particular cluster that doesn't concern them in the future. The curriculum also has courses such as Innovation & Design Thinking, Professional English, Indian Constitution and Ethics, etc. to help students broaden their perspective and improve communication. The grading here is absolute grading unlike the NITs which follow relative grading. It's fairly easy to score 9+ CGPA in the first year.

The faculty members here are well qualified for the curriculum they are a part of and also well-acquainted with the curriculum and academics. The teaching method used here is generally chalk-board method while some teachers using projectors to assist and aid them in teaching their course to us. Some have done a Ph.D in their subject while some have done masters.

The college provides on campus placement opportunities. Some of the companies that visited the campus in last few years are – Mercedes Benz, Oracle, Cisco, IBM, HPE, TCS, Infosys, JP Morgan, Amazon, Walmart, Flipkart, Shell, etc. We do have a Placement Cell which assists student during the placement drive.

There are separate hostels for boys and girls here, some are located in the college campus, while the ones for 1st year students are located at a distance from the college. The mess food is the best compared to any other PGs in the locality. The hostel fee for first year is ₹2,10,000 while for subsequent years it is ₹1,60,000. Every year, hostel fests are organised for hostellers to engage in.

There are 4 main academic buildings here and 1 extracurricular building namely the PJ Academic Block which has a number of departments and is also the building where 1st year students study their course. Second is the PG Block which has a number of labs and again a few departments. Then there is the science blocks having various labs for first year students including their chemistry and physics practical labs. Lastly, there is a mechanical block for CAED lab. The library is located in the PJ Academic Block where it contains sufficient amount of books pertaining to necessities for the concerned courses. The college has 3 canteens and all provide decent food with affordable prices. The labs have all the equipment needed for the practical and course outcome. The college also has an indoor stadium for sports like badminton, basketball, table tennis, carrom, chess, etc. The Placement Cell is also located in the building where the indoor stadium is located.

The crowd has 40% students from outside of Karnataka while around 60% students that reside in Karnataka. The crowd focuses more on the academic side of the course, having a friendly atmosphere for coders. The campus life is okay, given that the area college covers is small while their intake increases every year. There are two fests here, namely UTSAV which takes place around May-June and is the oldest cultural fest in Bangalore. The 2nd fest is Phaseshift which is a technical event taking place around November. There are a lot of clubs for first year students to join and a student can join as many clubs as he wants.
