To get admitted into AEC, you need to crack Common Entrance Examination, shortly CEE. By completing this, you can get admission into various engineering colleges in Assam under ASTU depending upon your rank and preference. I particularly gave AEC my top most priority because of its legacy and also because I am from the same town, so it is easy for me to commute daily. Overall experience in AEC, till now is good I would say not that great or worse. It's above average. Need of improvement in its system is surely needed.

To qualify CEE, as I already mentioned, you should have at least 50% in Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics (aggregate) else your application won't be counted. Then your age must be 21 or below 21, above this you are not eligible. Also, note that these colleges, under ASTU, are specially targeted for students of residents of Assam. 90% of its seat is reserved for state students.

Faculties of AEC are very good. They are surely approachable and have very good knowledge on their respected fields. Almost everyone has done their Ph.D from top IITs or NITs, so basically they know the mindset of a student of engineering which helps us being students indirectly or directly. A teacher is assigned as mentor for a group of 3-5 students for our improvement. They help us in every possible way.

Though I am not a hosteller, but I can surely share my point of view easily. There are 9 hostels in total of AEC. Hostel 9 (the recent one) is specially made for 1st year students (boys) to avoid ragging and unacceptable jobs. All the hostels have their own field.

Since it is getting old, an update is surely needed and perhaps it is getting also. But the old desk benches reminds of various known personalities once studied in this college. The main building of it has been renovated and now it’s almost new. Laboratories are also up to the mark and you get almost all the facilities to live.

Being the oldest engineering college of Northeast, it has its own legacy, vivid cultural activities; events managed by different clubs and individuals or by institute itself are very engaging. The annual fest, Pyrokinesis has its own charm and beauty. The greenery around the campus is free of city chaos. Overall, it is a good place to go.
