Jamia Millia Islamia University B.A Review By Sana Ilahi

When I first visited Jamia for entrance exam, I was astonished by the vibrant beauty around the campus. The green lush gardens, old and newly architected buildings, so many departments and diversity of students. After my admission, I used to spend half of my day in the reading hall. The library has the best collection of books ranging from engineering, literature, philosophy to life sciences. I found every book here with multiple published versions. Loved the diversity and the staff. Yearly fests are exciting and the celebrations of independence day and republic day which take place at MA Ansari Auditorium, excites me. It was so much fun witnessing the celebration in the auditorium this republic day. This place has equipped me with more confidence and made me humble.

I got AIR 1 in women category in the entrance exam of BA (Hons) English. Although, I wasn't even expecting my name in the list but to my surprise, it was on the top in women's category. Talking about the eligibility, you should have passed +2 with more than 55% or perhaps 65% (you need to find it on the prospectus of the university). The course has diverse syllabus ranging from the genres to different types of literatures including post-colonial literature, north-eastern literature, Indian writings, American literature and so much more. Being a science student, my motivation to join this course was to read more and more.

The faculty has multiple professors, Ph.D scholars, advisors and guest teachers. Most of them feel like parents, lovely and always ready to listen and provide you solutions whether it is a problem regarding your syllabus or your career. But not everyone can be that good. I found few very different from those humble professors. Our HoD was also very kind and humble that she would even greet students passing by without students greeting her first. She is the best of the teachers I've ever had.

Yes, we have a placement cell in the university which helps students get placed where their skills can come to work and get polished.

We have two residential campuses for girls in the university, namely old and new. There are multiple hostels in the old residential campus situated near VC lodge. New residential campus consists of 3 hostels with two of them newly built.

The infrastructure of the university is quite impressive ranging from old buildings to new ones, giving a sense of heritage. I feel lucky to be here and witness these ancient classrooms of faculty of Humanities and Languages and these newly built blocks including Natural Science block and the Hospitality building.

The university has multiple societies for different causes including economy, girl empowerment, technology and much more. Hundreds of students actively apply for their membership and get selected for tenure of 1 year which helps them to develop their skills and work with likeminded individuals to come up with something new.
