Many factors make college life enjoyable. On that front, the library, fests, study environment, and faculties are all great. Admissions here require great numbers in the state entrance exam, which is open for students from all across the country. Many students choose this Mysore college over colleges in Bangalore as the college ranks as one of the top cities in the State. Having Infosys, in the city is also one of the factors as experts from Infy have their inputs in many practicals. The management is excellent as they help you out ever so smoothly right from the admissions to getting admitted at the hostels. One thing for sure that an outsider will never feel an outsider here. Our college was also highly active with co-curricular activities.

Academics depend on the study environment that exists in a college. Girl’s ratio even for IT stream was quite less, but it was never boys vs. girls in our college. KCET and COMEDK are the only ways to get admissions here as back door entries are not meant for all unless you are well connected politically. The competition to get here was high, and competition in the college is even higher. Thanks to the challenging study environment, everyone has nothing but to excel here.

One thing that can stem the flow of education is faculties. Luckily no undercooked faculty in our college as all IT veterans were hired and they didn’t just teach us the syllabus but beyond that as well. They made us competitive as competition is not just during academics but also in the job. Students of JSS S&TU are therefore always up for any challenge. Faculty has played an enormous role in that, and it is impossible to pass without thanking them for their services to the college.

If one allows me to exaggerate a bit, over 100 companies visited for placements, and out of those 10-12 were for IT stream. Infosys has always been the sure starter. Apart from that, Microsoft, Google, and COFORGE have also started taking keen interest in our college students. The jobs at JSS S&TU are divided in tier 1 jobs, tier 2 jobs and tier 3 jobs. Tier 1 is jobs over 15 LPA, tier 2 is job over 5 LPA, and tier 3 are jobs a shade less than 5 LPA. I got offers for tier 3 jobs, which became unacceptable for me as I felt it wasn’t justice to my hard work. I, therefore, moved ahead and went to pursue higher studies. Those who got tier 1 and tier 2 jobs accepted it gleefully.

Staying miles away from family and friends is never easy, but it was as good as it can be at our college. Hostels have students from all states of the country, and one can learn all the diversities that exist in Indian culture at our hostel. There are quite a few girls and boys hostel buildings, and all were nice & clean. The hostel food was nothing but magnificent as I’m not too fond of anything undercooked, and the food here was more than what I expected. Saturday eve we would have treats at the hostel, and Dominos Pizza was also on the menu twice or thrice in a year. Therefore, the hostel was amazing, and the life at the hostel was more amazing.

The campus size was over 100 acres, and there were around 10 institutional buildings as the college offers many courses. Library was huge, and there were two of them actually. At a time only three books were allowed per student, and if you want to issue a fourth one, you will have to return at least one of those. If one can count the number of trees at the campus, can take my salute as we tried over a hundred times but failed. Sports grounds were clean as a whistle, and girls could book their slots to play as it weren’t the guys who dominated the field. There were four canteens, and one of them served an entirely North Indian menu like Chole Bhature and Dahi Bhalle. I wish there was a kitchen from our very own Bihar as a number of students from Bihar certainly top the list. Infrastructure was terrific as it had all the bases covered.

At JSS S&TU one can learn how to stay united. I was so excited all throughout as from juniors to seniors, I was friends with most. Coming to the fest, which was called Jayciana, was one of the best fests that one can witness. It lasted three days, and artists like Darshan Rawal and DJ Chetas have been invited to perform. In the final year of mine, Prakriti Kakkar performed and literally made everyone dance. It was a fantastic ride and a ride that I wish I could have ridden for much longer.
