Institute of Management Technology PGDM Review By Shreyansh Gupta

My preparations for joining a B-School from the second year of my graduation course. IMT Ghaziabad is one of the best B-Schools as a percentile of 85 is required to get admissions here. IMT don't compete with IIMs but are next to them in terms of studies and placements. Most students who do PGDM from here had some work-experience and that was a disadvantage for around 30% of the crowd as we were in the minority. The class size at IMTG is high, but the College has still maintained a placement record of 90% or more. Students who have an excellent track record are placed first, and the ones with poor grades have to wait after the intelligent ones and the ones who have prior work experience to get placed and then come their opportunity. I was in both the brackets and still had a good enough placements, so getting here is tough, but getting placed from here is not at all tough.

The first thing that we were taught was ROI, so we started evaluating the fees and the kind of jobs that we will get from the campus. The reason why brand value of IMTG is afloat is not the placements but academics too. If I measure the situation of academics in B-School, IMTG again was next to IIMs. The peer learning is 11 on 10 and theory course was a little below par as completing the PDFs was the only thing that was done in terms of theory. For practical purposes, we were given the best exposure as the College brought many super specializations in their course like cold hard operations and advertising management.

Faculties acknowledged student's efforts as they never demeaned any of us, even if we made a mistake. The energy that they brought in the classrooms was amazing to see as they kept continuing the lectures even after the bell rang for the breaks. Their presence around us was more than enough to learn half the course because their experiences and pep talks made us learn the course without even reading most of the PDFs. The faculty were strict and if allowed, students would have hung placards to show some mercy on us because their assignments would never end as faculties kept bombarding us with that one after the other.

The placement cell of IMTG is in command of the placements. The placements cell head made himself commissioner of the placements because no one could request them to find a job of choice. He would decide the roster of order, and students were bound to appear that way. Students are allowed to send personal choice sectors, and if it matches that of the requirements of the companies that came for recruiting, it means you have hit a jackpot. The company that took most students in 2019 was BYJU's. Apart from BYJUs, banks were the ones that hired students and ensured that at least 120 students of finance maintain their 100% placement record.

IMTG is a luxurious campus and the hostel was a luxury there. The boy's hostel that accommodated over 400 students had all the required facilities. The weather of Ghaziabad is hot and hotter, so ACs became compulsory and the hostel had that. The rooms needed some headroom and leg space and it was provided. The mess food was great, but the only thing was that Paneer and mashed Potatoes were served at least one time daily. I had a lot of fun in my previous hostel and at IMTG hostel I saw students occupied with their things and thus forget about a great hostel life. Getting me time was also not possible at IMTG.

IMTG campus is around 15 acres and each inch of that area needs some special mention. To keep some of the stress of summers away, around 1000 trees have been planted at IMTG campus. There's a big garden in front of the admin block and students were allowed to sit and chill in the garden. The smart classrooms with auto attendance were the newest piece of technology that I saw at IMTG. The MAC LAB was getting ready and I am sure a lab with 50 MAC PCs must be ready by now. The Nescafe bar operated at the campus till 4 am and Maharaja café too served food till 2 am in the morning. There were great sporting facilities and one new thing that I saw here was a swimming pool as having a swimming pool inside a College campus is rare.

I can only boast about the campus life as even the students who weren't that rich learned how to live a rich life. The kind of life and fun that I had there is incomparable. Yes, assignments took some extra pounding, but still finding an hour or two with friends was possible. Once the year is about to end, the College organizes one of the most happening fests called 'Passion'.
