Chandigarh University BCA Review By Apeksha Chopra

CU University has a lot of positives about it as I have a lot of positives to talk about. In all honesty, there was some disappointment as almost all good Universities in India give placements to BBA students, but CU couldn't. There are a lot of rosy things about the University until the placements happened and that was the only area where the University has stumbled. Since, I have taken many lines for writing that placements were not good. Now let me talk about the positives part. During the academic phase, almost everything went fine as the University has made lectures compulsory more than ever. Yes, I finished my College life at CU, possibly stringer than ever. I will regard my life at CU as a success because I took home a lot of positives and one of those was some of the nicest faculties whom I met during my time at CU.

There was more than a sweet taste in the mouth for academics as from the first semester the academics were given the highest regard at the University. If I look at the way the University performed in academics, I don't think it could have done anymore because the course was updated. All the newest things we were taught in the classes. It was all because of the quality teaching of the faculty that academics was sorted at CU. The academics in the class were followed up well with practical and some quality guest lectures.

A lot better was done by the faculty in terms of teaching the students and that's the best thing they did. The big plus that I took from CU was the fact that we made friends with many of the faculties. If there's an unheralded hero of the University, then it is the faculties of the CU. They were the ones who made sure that we were done with our studies before the penultimate stage came. The faculties; some of them were quite young, and were some of the best youngest faculties that one will see. The senior faculties always perform under some pressure as a lot is expected out of them. This is where I felt the younger faculties came out and expressed themselves in teaching most beautifully that one could.

We saw glimpses of placements, but nothing special. Firstly, during our time there were three batches of BCA meaning close to 200 students. Now out of 200, if 30 odd get placements means the University has shown glimpses of placements. The full range of placements is what we were promised but sadly couldn't see more than glimpses. The competition for placements is always high among the individuals, but when the opportunity is not even presented than what's the idea of developing a competitive environment. It's not always that the topper of the batch gets the top placements. Toppers can be one, but in terms of placements, even if the figures are slightly lower, one can at least boast about them. As I said, I can boast most of the University, but perhaps the placements.

Two girl's hostels were operational during our batch and some new ones were about to pop up. Sukhna A & B were the two girl's hostels and each of them had a capacity of accommodating around 400 girls. Security-wise, the hostels were adept as both the hostels were located in the North campus of the University. The food part was sorted at the food joints but not at the hostel mess as that was a low-quality food with many issues to address daily.

The campus is huge and probably second after LPU in terms of area in Punjab. The campus was not built because many constructions were still on. One side of the campus was almost completed while we finished our course, but the other side development was still on. The sports ground was an area where girls went to cheer their in-house or department teams. The canteen was an area to rejoice as every day we could change canteens and still the canteen that we visit today will take at least a month to come back again. There were indeed that many food joints. There is a hospital at the campus and a parking area of 1500 two-wheelers and 500 four-wheelers.

From Media Fest to Technivent, the events never ended at CU. The events used to start from November and carry on till April, so it was six months of nonstop entertainment at the campus. Performances related to many fields like dance, music, sports, and quizzes were held during the fests. The Youth Festival celebrated during our time, saw Badshah perform on some of his favorite songs.
