If there's anything for which the Institute can be appreciated is their style of doing things. The crowd here is super stylish and everyone looks confident at the campus. We never waited for the faculty to tell us our mistakes. The management and the faculty ensured that any form of difficulty faced mentally or with education will be addressed and that gave all confidence to move freely at the campus. Nothing was planned here on how to work things out because surprises were thrown. Out of the blue thinking was given the utmost importance. So, the students and the management were both very clear and knew the lines that shouldn't be crossed from both ends. One can pop-in in the middle of the class, if they have any questions because nobody will wait for the turn. Things happen upfront here, so for those who like instinctive things, Thapar is the one for them.

For the sake of argument, one can argue with the schedule because it changed. As I have said, things don't go as per plan over here. The forbidden word momentum existed heavily because momentum was built and then broken. After all, in-between, we were taken to fore, industrial visits, and projects. Classes were regular and attendance was compulsory too, but there were ways to skip those. The education was controlled nicely because HOD would come and ask the students if they felt there was any problem or needed some changes. Planning was missing otherwise; education was good enough.

Faculties of the College were highly experienced, but did all the things and tried too many things to get the vast course finished on time. They used to organize unplanned extra classes on weekends, which were holidays at the College. Many faculties were changed between the courses, but the replacements were better than the previous ones. Must be some politics at the top level because faculties changed like rank pins. Students could control many things as one complaint and the faculties were fired. Having good terms with faculties is anybody's dream; but at Thapar, one can't dream of it, as faculties hardly remain constant.

Placements looked like the things that they could be the one. I hope my prediction on placements came true because Thapar has seen almost all the top companies sending their teams for placements. However, with little spots to fill, the hole always remained. Firstly, the students were so high that getting them all placed was never going to be easy. Even after rigorous training, hardly few students could have placements. Some quality placements too happened as B. Tech students getting placements worth 18-25 lakhs were also there. Overall, though, placements couldn't be that great because the percentage of placements was too little to blow trumpets for.

There were seven boy's hostels at the 'Thapar University' and a smaller number of girls' hostels. The hostels were Jafa as the rooms were neat and clean. Also, there was plenty of free space in the room as the joker of the pack used to have 20 students sitting in his room at one point. Patiala is a paradise for food lovers and Thapar University was no exception. Hailing from Punjab, I was happy with authentic Punjabi food being served daily. However, fruits and salads were included in the meals and excess oil and butter was taken away from the meals served at the hostels. Punjabi students didn't like that, but students of other states were quite happy with this move.

Punjab Universities are mostly large because Punjabi's like larger-than-life things. Thapar campus was spread across 250 acres. Location was a bit weird as College bus was mandatory to be used to go to the main city. The modern classrooms were quality and the laboratories were highly equipped. There was a huge fountain that looked like a rainbow at night due to the amazing lighting. A garden close to gate number one was open till 10 pm as hostellers could access that till that point. The library was great as having over 50k books in a library and having at least 3-4 copies of each book could have been possible only at the library of such a huge University. The campus is fully secured as there are security cameras all over the campus and finding blind spots was impossible. There were many bouncers placed at the campus so that students don't get physical with each other. There were some of the most delicious canteens at the College and one of those canteens was operational till 3 am.

The campus life for an engineering student means having some solace and unwinding things to do. The College has some of the best sporting facilities and I, being a player, loved playing sports. There were snooker tables and other indoor games that were allowed to access till 10 pm. Playing chess and cards in our hostel rooms was the best part of my campus life.
