VJTI: The Best Place for Engineering

Overall Rating
After my 10th results came out I was confused whether to choose 11th & 12th or to go for Diploma. I was sure that I wanted to do engineering so I decided to visit VJTI Campus. I was initially impressed by the shear area of the campus at the heart of Mumbai. I got a chance to interact with the seniors. I decided to take the admission in Veermata Jijabai Technological Institute due to its facilities and experienced faculty members.
 

Academics Rating
I got admission in Mechanical department of Veermata Jijabai Technological Institute. The cutoffs are usually high for general category students. It may go as high as 93%. The Mechanical Engineering is known to be the core of core branch. There are various core subjects like Mechanics, Strength of Materials, Theory of Machines, Machine Drawing, Automobile Engineering, etc. Generally for first year the subjects like Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics, Engineering Drawing, and Mechanics are common to all branches.
The fee in our time was around Rs. 10,000/- per year.
 

Faculty Rating
Faculty at Mechanical Engineering department is experienced. They teach extremely well usually from reference books (most of the books are used by degree students as well). As compared to other diploma colleges which use normal textbooks like Mahalaxmi publication; VJTI faculty teaches from well structured, industry standard books. Faculty helps in many ways. I was keen on participating in various Paper presentation competitions and faculty of engineering helped me to do the same.
 

Placement Rating
There is dedicated placement department at VJTI. Usually students prefer to go for higher studies (degree) after diploma. Hence usually around 10 students prefer to sit for placements. In our time 3 students got placed in L&T.
 

Hostel Rating
For first year boys B-block hostel is provided. It is old building but has kind of spacious rooms. 3 students in one room are allotted based on merit. Not all who desire get admission in hostel. Usually cumulative 30 students from all departments get admission in hostel.
 

Infrastructure Rating
The main building is pretty old (1887 constructed) which hosts administrative offices, Directors cabin, etc. all the administrative work related to scholarships, admission are done in main building. The Mechanical Engineering department is at North east corner of campus. At ground floor of mechanical department there is a Xerox shop. The workshops are attached to the mechanical department. Besides main building there is a basketball court and canteen. In total 3 grounds are there 1 football, 1 cricket and 1 basketball.
 

Campus Rating
Campus life at VJTI is one of the best if you are hosteller. We used to play football and cricket whenever we had offs. VJTI hosts events like Pratibimb (cultural event), Technovanza (tech event), Vastra (textile deprtment event), Enthusia (sports event), and more. As always there is shear competition between mechanical and civil department. The December month is known for the extracurricular activities. One of the long lasting memories about VJTI is its canteen, specially the Ragda patties.

    Overall experience of my college is good. VJTI is in Mumbai so we have many opportunities. VJTI has good infrastructure but some teachers are not that much good. VJTI is best for their legacy of about 138 years. VJTI is better than below NITS and new NITS. VJTI has many departments for individual degrees and diploma. Good placement opportunities.     I’m in currently First Year B.Tech at Veermata Jijabai Technological Institute. My branch is Electronics and Telecommunication. I had just completed my first semester but if I have to give an overview then I must say the institute is really better in terms of academics and placements seeing recent year placement reports.
