Exploring Academics at RIT Bangalore

Overall Rating
My overall experience was good in Ramaiah Institute of Technology, Bangalore. I got this Institute through the COMEDK exam. As I was interested in Engineering this institute was best suited for my rank. The institute is among the top 3 Engineering institutes in Bangalore. This institute focuses in the overall development. Institute’s location is also at a good place.
 

Academics Rating
I chose the Civil Engineering Course. If someone wants to pursue BE in MSRIT, they can simply give the exam of COMEDK and by merit basis they can choose the institute and branch for studies. For Karnataka students there’s another exam called KCET by which someone can enroll in this institute. There are two internal exams mostly in a month or two called CIE. Semester exams are scheduled in such a way that one gets enough time to prepare for the exams.
Fee structure is different for different students like COMEDK students, KCET students, and management quota students. COMEDK fee was around Rs. 2,48,000 per semester. Fee for KCET students is low as compared to COMEDK. Some Karnataka residence students get extra scholarship benefits in their fee. Management quota fee is too high to enroll in this institute. For general and OBC students there is no concession. For ST and SC students, concession is offered.
 

Faculty Rating
Here most of the teachers are from Karnataka itself. So students coming from north can face difficulties in terms of language. Most of the faculty members are PhD holders. Teachers are understanding and supportive. However, like all other institutes there are a few teachers who are quite difficult to understand and approach. Teachers use various tools like presentation, blackboards, and projectors to teach.
 

Placement Rating
The placements in this institute are good for technical branches like CSE and ISE. For Civil Engineering the placement is average.
 

Hostel Rating
Yes, The institute provides residential facilities.
 

Infrastructure Rating
Our campus is very large if we consider the whole area under Ramaiah Institute of Technology, Bangalore. The infrastructure is well developed. Buildings are modern and look technical. The roads and facilities inside the campus are great. There are many food courts and canteens in the institute. There are basketball courts and other sports field in the college. For student’s fitness gym is also present.
 

Campus Rating
My overall campus life was good. Institute’s crowd was great as well. Apart from Karnataka students, northern side students are also there. There are many clubs for technical and mechanical branches. To join clubs student’s interview is taken and then the entry is considered. Annual fests are also conducted which are fun to attend.

    The major reason for choosing Ramaiah Institute of Technology is my interest in Chemistry and my COMEDK rank. The curriculum is very strict, leaving little room for other activities.     I gave many exams such as JEE, JEE Advanced, BITSAT, VITEEE, etc. I got decent scores in them but none of them could get me CSE in a tier 1 institute. Currently I am in my 3rd semester. Until now, my overall experience has been great with the institute. The campus is only 16 acres but it is beautiful and infrastructure is great.     I am actually happy and satisfied coming to RIT, my overall experience has been good in the last one year. Being from Northern India, I have not faced any discrimination. The faculty and staff are very helpful and generous, and the placement is on the good side of the spectrum. On the downside, the campus area is not that big, and we don't have many fests, though being in Bengaluru, it’s not that much of an issue.
