Prayagraj University Admissions: Entrance Exams and Requirements

University of Allahabad offers overall development courses and skills alongside various courses and degree. I did my bachelors and masters from this University and the professors were well equipped with the courses and syllabus. Although the syllabus available for my subjects was lengthy, yet it was covered well by the professors. The faculty of the University is qualified and experienced when it comes to the literature department. The fee structure of the University of Allahabad is guided by the UGC guidelines, and the fee amount is very nominal. University of Allahabad also conducts various conferences and seminars with interdisciplinary approach. Overall the academic life offered by University of Allahabad is rich and impactful.

The courses chosen by me were Bachelor of Arts and Master of Arts. My subjects were English, political science and medieval history. The basic requirement to enroll in the Bachelors course is 55% of marks as well as qualifying their entrance exam. The same applies to the master’s level courses. Interested candidates are required to appear for the entrance exams and have to meet the cutoff declared by their specific department. University conducts entrance exams annually. The regular exams of the courses are however conducted through semester system. The academics more or less prepare you more on the education side rather than the practical side of the life. Overall, the life of a student is easy and manageable.

University of Allahabad follows both semester and annual system of fee payment depending upon the course one has opted for. The fee structure follows the guidelines of UGC and hence the fee amount is very nominal. This ranges between Rs. 5,000 to Rs. 30,000. Additionally, University of Allahabad also provides several scholarships to the reserved classes and gold medalists of the courses. Moreover, there are fee discounts available for single girl child too.

The faculty in University of Allahabad is very rich academically. In the English department, there are more than 15 professors available. Most of them have already published their research papers in some of the very established journals like scoops. The professors have experience of over 10 years in the teaching field and are very cordial with the students. The department uses both the traditional methods and modern techniques to make the class sessions interactive and engaging. If we talk about the ratio of teachers per student, then it is to be stated that the English department of the University is one the most diversified and has more than 15 teachers which is high in numbers if we compare it to other colleges.

University of Allahabad does have a placement cell that works to provide jobs to the students of different department. It works for the departments like mass communication, department of commerce and others. Placement Cell doesn't provide any facility to the department of arts as of now. However, it has collaborated with very known companies to provide job opportunities to its meritorious students.

The hostels provided by the University of Allahabad are separate for girls and boys. The fee structure is nominal for hostel accommodation. However, the Admission to the hostels are totally based on merit and cut-off system of the specific departments.

The campus of the University of Allahabad is huge and the infrastructure dates long back. Regular maintenance is done by the staff especially assigned to take care of the building. It has canteen, Wi-Fi service, transportation service, seminar and conference halls as well as theatre halls. Moreover, the department also offers security and medical facilities. The campus is situated in the middle of the city. It has proper connectivity to the whole city and every department has its own entrance and exit points.

Campus life of the University is more about academics than clubs and fests which makes it more education centric. However, annual sports and fests are conducted by the University of Allahabad. Additionally, it focuses on seminars and inter-city competitions between its constituent colleges. The college crowd is mix of both urban and rural background people. The overall experience of the college life at University of Allahabad has been academically great.
