CSE Placements at MNNIT Allahabad for Future Tech Leaders

The experience has been full of ups and downs. The academic curriculum and extra-curricular activities have taught me how to handle pressure and manage time efficiently. MNNIT Allahabad was the first to introduce CSE program in the country. Also, the excellent placement records makes this course especially sought after among the aspirants. This encouraged me to select this course over other programs in IITs. The highly qualified faculty and well structured curriculum puts the students of this course among the most sought after individuals in the software industry. The opportunities for securing internships and placements are exceptional.

The CSE program at MNNIT Allahabad has such a well structured curriculum, seasoned mentorship by seniors, alumni and professors are second to none. Admissions are through JEE mains rank only. JOSAA (category rank) / CSAB (AIR) or DASA (foreign students) counselling is conducted for admissions. The exam time is particularly stressful as there are hardly any preparatory leaves. There are mid and final exams conducted each semester. New subjects are added regularly to the curriculum to cater to the recent needs of the software industry. However, some subjects do lack practical learning.

3. The tuition fee for students are as follows: (Income above Rs.5.00 LPA) - Rs.62,500/- (Income Rs.1.00 to Rs.5.00 LPA) - Rs.20,833/-

The faculty members are highly qualified in their respective fields. Majority of the professors are Ph.D scholars. Classes do have both smart-board and blackboard for teaching. Teachers focus on the evolving needs of the industry and encourage logical thinking and real life problem solving. The teacher to student ratio is average though. Around 1:20. The faculty members are particularly strict in terms of their subjects and demand discipline in terms of academics.

2. Training and Placement Office (TPO) brings top MNCs and software companies for recruitment.
3. Companies like JP Morgan, Goldman Sachs, Morgan Stanley, Microsoft, Oracle, Google, Citicorp, DE Shaw etc. come for internships and placements.

1. College has hostel facilities.
2. Final year hostel rooms are very spacious. 2 and 3 year rooms are very congested. 1st year have 3/4 seaters, 2nd and 3rd year have double seaters and single seaters for final year students. Also, some students from 3rd year with high CPI get bigger rooms.
3. Separate hostels for girls and boys. First year students also have separate hostels.
4. Mess food is average. Nothing special and nothing too bad.
5. Hostel fee - Rs.24,000/- per annum.
6. In-time for 1st Year boys -10.00 pm and for 1st Year girls – Rs.8.30pm. For 2nd year onwards, boys- no in time, for girls-10.00pm.

Academic blocks and structures are decent with good infrastructure. Campus size is 220 acre. However, only around 100 acre accessible to boys. It is located near local market. Only some classrooms have ACs and smart-boards. Rest have fans. Library is average but research material available is quite vast. Labs are decent with good instruments and materials. There are two halls - seminar hall for official purposes and MP hall for larger events and gatherings. There are 5-6 canteens across the college. Hostels also have night canteens running late up to 2-3pm. Medical Centre is available where basic medicine is free of cost. Security guards are present at almost all locations. The computer labs have decent connectivity and hardware.

Overall life is interesting only if you are a part of any club/committees. Otherwise life does become quite monotonous with the coding and corporate culture. College crowd involves students from all across India. So it is pretty fun. There are various clubs and committees involved with various extra-curricular activities like dance, arts, dramatics etc. There are various professional committees like steering committee, entrepreneurship cell and socially service societies which are headed by final yr students. Culrav-Avishkar is the annual techno cultural fest. It is meaningful to only those however, who are part of committees or participate in technical events. The biggest pitfall of the college which is sometimes very frustrating is the fact there is negligible financial assistance provided to extra-curricular activities. Sports facilities are below average and the only authorities handling these affairs are the senior year students.
