BITS Hyderabad’s Competitive Placement Process

BITS Hyderabad is a 200-acre campus. It is green and spacious with well-maintained hostels, modern lecture halls, and well-equipped labs. The curriculum is super flexible, letting students pick and drop courses as they like. The freshers week or the Fervour Week gives the freshers an overall idea about the culture of the campus. One should choose this institute for its amazing campus.

I have chosen Electric & Electronics Engineering BE single degree of four years duration. The Electrical department is the best among the three campuses and has a special minor in Semiconductors Technology that makes it unique among other colleges. The only eligibility criteria is BITSAT marks with 75% minimum in boards. The academics are thorough with consistent number of quizzes, surprise tests, and lab-tests. The grading is tough and competition is cutthroat.

The total fees of my chosen course is around 28 Lakh, which includes everything, with semester wise fee is 3-5 LPA, which reaches the maximum as the new semester approaches in the successive years. The admission fee in 2024 was Rs. 57,000 with a Rs. 2,50,000 tuition fee in the first year, which increases in the next semesters. The institute offers merit-cum need scholarship for students with less than 15 Lakh annual incomes that has criteria based on the CGPA of students deciding the 25%, 50%, or 100% scholarship. There is also a Merit scholarship irrespective of income that has a higher cutoff (around 9 CGPA or more) for 50% & 100% scholarship on total tuition fee.

The faculty is among the best in the country with most of the following their own research projects in the campus who receive a lot of funding from state governments and other companies. Almost all of them have PhD and published research papers. Most of them are always ready to help and easily approachable but it is hard to make them agree to something.

The placement cell at BITS Hyderabad calls startups and companies to the campus. The placement season for the final year students spans across a year where certain students sit for placements in the first semester while some in the final semester as they like. The median salaries for Electronics range around 20 LPA while for computer science roles around 25 to 30 LPA While the core roles around 12 Lakh. Google, Amazon, Nvidia, and Qualcomm are renowned recruiters that offer roles at the campus.

The hostels are the best part of this college. There are 3 hostels for girls and 7 for boys. The first and second year students get a double sharing room, which is well furnishers, clean, and well maintained. Students get single rooms from 3rd year onwards. The mess offers average but diversified food. The mess is very hygienic but certain times they have been reported for undermining it. There is no in timing in any hostel.

BPHC has a lush green campus spanning across 200 acres. The lecture halls and classroom sir well equipped and air-conditioned, with imparts (recording facility) available for students. Classrooms can accommodate around 300 to 400 students at once. The institute provides a daily 10 GB high-speed data limit through LAN. The auditorium and library are massive. The auditorium has a capacity of around 2500 audience with top-notch acoustics and is the venue for major events and fests inaugurations.

The college crowd consists majorly of metro cities like Mumbai, Bangalore, Hyderabad, and Chennai. Clubs are the major part of college life with clubs like Comedy Club and Cipher (Dance Club) having large social media presence. I am a part of the comedy club. Various events are organized by the college's cultural Senate all over the semester. The college hosts three major fests.
