University of Rajasthan BCA Review By Divyansh Rai

University of Rajasthan, Jaipur also called as UNIRAJ is state government university and it is funded by the Government of Rajasthan and this is the reason for the minimal fee of the university. For Bachelor of Computer Application fee was approx. Rs. 8,000 per year including all the academic fee excluding hostel fee. Since university is huge hence we had lot of spots in the university to have fun and make memories there. UNIRAJ has some of the best alumni in the history of any university and I also got to know that our Vice President is also our alumni. University has much to offer for everyone. I choose this university because of its rich history and campus environment. Elections in the university are also a very political aspect of the university since many local and state politicians are born in the university elections. Anyone which who want to experience a college life like never before should enrolled in the university.

BCA is a computer related course in which you learn about various computer applications and fundamental. There are many coding related subjects in the course and it is not hard to understand them if you try to. I choose this course because I wanted to make my career in Information Technology field. Entry requirements are that you should have completed your education till Intermediate and after that you have to apply in the university for the admission. Admission in University of Rajasthan is done on the merit basis and without any entrance test. There are many theory subjects in my course so to pass the semester exam is not easy and we need to focus on the exam to pass each university exam so academically this program is really hard to pass.

I would say that teachers here have nothing to do with the students. Since attending the classes is not necessary hence very less students go to the classes to attend the lecture which are even not productive at all. Most of the times we prepare for the exam through online available material and by self study since we know that we are not going to get any support from the faculty members. I would say that only 5 teachers out of 100 are good and ready to give effort for the students and other than them are just employees to the Rajasthan government. In my first semester I had to learn the C programming and for that the explanation that I got on the MySirG Youtube channel was way better than that of I got in the class. So most of the student prefers self study than going to the class for nothing. All the teachers in the UNIRAJ have done their PhD and all of them have experience more than 10 year if not all then majority of them.

Not many companies visit the campus for the hiring but some good companies visit and they only prefer the B.Tech and MCA so my plan after my graduation is to do MCA from good university which provides good placements. There were few companies that visited the campus for BCA students but they offer package from 2.6 to 4 LPA which I feel is not sufficient to survive. Other than the placements there are really good internship opportunities in the companies like Amazon, Flipkart, and Justpay with stipend up to 10000 per month for the intern positions. Application for these internships are available online on the websites like Dare2Compete, unstop etc. I feel that doing more internship increases our chances to get in to good companies because they prefer the students who have the experience of doing an internship.

Yes I opted for the campus hostel because there were no good PGs available outside the campus grounds. Hostel facilities were good and they provided all sorts of amenities required for the students like bed and mattresses and fans. Air Conditioned rooms were also available but the fee for them were 20000 more than the conventional fee and that is why I did not select the AC rooms. There were three types of the room available like 1-seater, 2-seater and 3-seater room and the fee for the 3-seater room was Rs. 50,000. Hostel nights are best because we hangout with friends and there are also nights we arrange bonfire for the night out and it was really fun to live in the hostel because you cannot get that level of exposure and experience outside the college campus. I did not feel that day scholars were allowed or not in the college because all the students in class was hostellers and we lived in the same hostel in all four years.

UNIRAJ campus is very big and sometimes you feel lost in the campus area because it is more than 700 acres and it is filled with lot of trees and buildings. All types of sport facility are available in the college and there are also many grounds in the university and most of the times all the ground are engaged because university promotes the sports culture in the university and some of our college students also played for the state level competitions and also secured good rank in the events. There are more than 30 buildings in the university and most of the buildings are old and they are not updating them. UNIRAJ is more than 70 year old and it feel like that because architectural it feel old. It is government university so classrooms are also not so good and some facilities are not available in the classrooms.

Many recreational activities happen in the university each year. Manthan is the main event that happens every year in the university but it did not happen in my final year because of the lockdown. In the Manthan we take part in the event and perform on the stage whatever we want to perform and this event is completely organized by the students only. There is also one sport fest happen each year and in this event students from other university also participates with their team. University elections are the best experience in the university because at that time many events are organized in the university. In university election any one can stand for the election and elected person has many responsibilities in university. Some of the clubs in the university are Rotaract Club, ICG theatrical club, ICG chemical association, eco friendly association and ivy league.
