Christ University is One of The Very few Universities to Offer Dual Majors

My experience so far at Christ University, Bangalore has been very holistic and enriching. The University not only focuses on studies but also pays a lot of attention to extracurricular activities which makes it beneficial for the students. It is also one of the very few Universities to offer dual majors and the Psychology and Economics combination is expected to open a lot of career doors for people especially from the Arts background. They are also one of the top Universities for pursuing this course due to their amazing past record.

I have chosen dual Majors in Psychology and Economics. I chose this because I had humanities in my high school and these two subjects were my favourite and practically speaking, they were also the subjects with highest scope. Therefore, I chose this combination. Entry requirement for the same is that the process will be divided into two parts. First is the application round where you have to submit the application. Once your profile is shortlisted, you will be called for an interview and micro-presentation. After that, the results will be mailed to you. Talking about the frequency of exams, they are divided into 3 which include continuous internal assessment (CIA), mid semester and end semester. Initially, one may find it very tiring but after some point you will get used to it. I think this way you are always studying something and chances are less that you will deviate from your path. The academics are designed to rightly prepare you for the real life challenges because apart from main subjects we have subjects like skill development, holistic education that teach you soft skills like communication, resume building , personality enhancement etc.

The fees structure is Rs. 1,15,000/- we have to pay per annum and not per semester. This includes everything. Special scholarships are provided to the specific category students. Every year before the portal of fees is open; they will mail a list of available Scholarships and its eligibility criteria for the students in need for the same.

The faculty teaching our courses are very knowledgeable in their respective subjects. All of them have completed their Ph.D. Classrooms generally consist of group discussions, activity based learning and PPT's. The class is always open for questions and the faculty is also very approachable only a few of them are strict. Whenever you have any doubt, you can schedule a meeting and visit the faculty. I personally found them to be very helpful.

Christ University, Bangalore does have a Placement Cell that works actively. From the 2nd year itself Placement representatives are chosen that coordinate with the Cell to provide information about any future Internship or job opportunity. Recently, many reputed companies visited our campus for their summer Internship recruitment and one student from our class actually got selected for the stipend of Rs. 30,000/-.

The University does offer residential facilities however, it is very strict and the facilities provided are also not up to the mark. Hence, majority of students decided to live in a PG near the campus. There are a lot of PG options available near the campus that provides good facilities including good food, safety, regular cleaning etc. So it’s more of a PG culture than a hostel one.

The campus is medium sized but is clean, green and organized into various blocks. The classrooms are very spacious and around 70 students can be equipped into it. With the installation of smart boards into every classroom it has become more technologically advance as well. Other academic facilities include well equipped labs, library, seminar halls and auditorium. There are also multiple canteens that offer variety of options. Additionally, good medical and security arrangements are also being made. My favourite thing about the infrastructure is the sports complex that offer variety of gaming options for the students.

Overall, the campus life is amazing at Christ University, Bangalore. There are a lot of club opportunities that caters to interest of each and every individual, you can choose anything and everything be it simply being with animals, painting, dancing, community service, there is an option for everything. The clubs allows us to interact with the seniors as well. Seniors in my subject domain are very helpful and are always there when needed. The clubs also are a great opportunity to showcase your talents and leadership skills. Some clubs also offers credits for working for them. I am part of the Community Service NGO that teaches underprivileged children by going to different schools. Fests happen 2 times a year and is basically like a competition between the same domain clubs. Personally it’s a very enriching experience.
