Overall my experience at IIT BHU has been wonderful. Since coming here I don't regret a single day here. Although two years of my college life were spent online but still it had been a wonderful experience for me. The three seater rooms with low amenities which were uncomfortable at the beginning became a part of life soon. Academics here are quite easy and passing the subjects is not such a big deal. You get to choose your career path from a variety of career options including core, non-core, research.

From 11th class itself I was motivated to opt for a core branch in IIT as I was inclined towards getting a job in Indian Railways. I gave JEE Mains and JEE Advanced exam. I got 6443 AIR in Common Rank List. After that JoSAA organizes the counseling procedure for admission in IITs, NITs and GFTIs. There were seven rounds of counselling. In the first round I was allotted B. Tech in Metallurgy at IIT BHU and in the fourth round I was allotted B. Tech in Civil Engineering at IIT-BHU itself which I locked. Talking about eligibility, if you have appeared for JEE Advanced then you are eligible for IIT-BHU. There are as such no specific requirements which are asked at the time of admission. Here in civil engineering you earn around 50-60 credits per semester. In simple words there would be around 5-6 courses per semester. Each course would have 2-3 classes of one hour each per week. Courses here are not that difficult to pass. These courses would also include lab courses.

Faculty here is highly qualified. All of them got a very good research background. Almost all the faculty has done their PhDs from either IITs/IISc or foreign. Faculty here generally uses a mix of presentation and black board for teaching. Usually in a course lectures are delivered by Professors and their Teaching Assistants help us in case of doubts we have. For evaluation purpose there are assignments and quizes. Apart of these there are mid-semester and end-semester exams. There are lecture theatres for the same.

The Training and Placement Cell of IIT BHU is responsible for coordinating the internships and placements of students. Placements are offered in the final year of the course, i.e. for B. Tech students in the seventh and eight semesters. Almost all the students sitting for placements get placed. Companies ranging from Microsoft to JPMC, many companies visit the campus. Highest package generally touches Rs. 1.5 crore per year and average package is around Rs. 12 lakhs per year. You can opt for placements in various different types of companies including software development, data science, data analytics, product management, core, etc.

Yes, the institute provides hostel facilities to the students. Institute provides hostel facilities to all the students opting for it except the local students. For first and second year boys rooms are triple seater. For all the other students rooms are double seater. First year boys are allotted Aryabhatta Hostel. Second year students are allotted newly constructed Dhanarajgiri-2 hostel. For third year and fourth year hostels are allotted branch-wise. Hostel rooms are provided with two beds, two cupboards, two table and a fan. Rooms are pretty simple here. For recreational activities there is Student's Activity Centre which provides you with indoor game facilities, gym and much more. There is Gymkhana also for outdoor sports.

As it is a 100 year old institute many of the buildings here are very old. You get a feel of them through high roofs and spacious rooms. Labs here are well equipped across all the departments covering all the domains. Library here is also sufficient enough to accommodate the students for reading purpose as well as there are sufficient resources available in the library. There are three lecture theatre complexes here with varying capacity for the each. Each department also comprises of classrooms to accommodate the students. The entire campus is wi-fi equipped which is available for all the students, staff and faculty members.

Campus Life here at IIT-BHU is marvelous. There are not much restrictions imposed at you by the administration and this lets you free in your exploration journey. All the hostels are within the campus. Since it’s an open campus there is a problem of excessive crowd and traffic in the campus. Kashiyatra and Technex, two of the most popular fests of North India are annually organized here. You can find more about these fests on their respective websites. Almost throughout the year you will be engaged in extra-curricular activities based on your interest be it sports, robotics, dramatics, music, art, anything you can think of as an extra-curricular activity.
