Allahabad University M.A Review By Anupam Kumar

I have chosen this university because of its rich intellectual history. It is popularly known as the Oxford of East. I wanted to opt for MA Geography in this university as it is one of the premier institutions in the field of Social Sciences. It has one of the best teaching staffs and also provides the best facilities to the students. It is a central government university. This university has been a focus area for major political and intellectual development of the northern India. It provides students a friendly environment where students can coordinate with teachers in a very efficient manner.

I took admission in Masters of Arts from Geography subject. The motive to join Allahabad University is that I heard so many things of their faculty members like one professor has done his PhD from Sweden. Many other faculty members have completed PhD from abroad universities.

I like my Geography Department because teachers are punctual here. In this department there are so many professors and teachers. There is also one Head of the Department. 18 new faculty members have joined from JNU and BHU. Another important point is that majority of the faculty members are females.

There is no placement from Allahabad University after Graduation or Post Graduation.

I am not a hosteller but I have heard a lot from my friends who are hostellers. Every PG student is allotted a single room in the hostel which is really comfortable for the students as there are no disturbances. The mess food is quite poor though.

As we all know Allahabad University was established in 1885 during the British era so all the buildings are of the ancient model. Arts and Science both the faculties are quite beautiful. The benches are quite old and dirty. Geography department is very beautiful as it is new.

There are 140 students in my PG class. More than 10,000 students study in the Allahabad University. Since I have taken admission no event has been organised. Only a celebration on Independence Day was conducted. It is quite boring without the events. It is a co-ed university and I have made many friends.
