Motilal Nehru National Institute of Technology MCA Review By Jeet Sahoo

So, I joined this prestigious institute for pursuing MCA after clearing the NIMCET examination. studying at IIT/NIT was my dream since 12th standard. During my 12th boards I got to know about JEE from my friends but due to lack of awareness and money, I could not pursue that dream and started pursuing BCA from a local semi government college. Although I got to know about NIMCET during the first year itself but I wasn't confident about clearing the exam so I didn't thought of preparing at that time but as time passed and Covid came. During the 3rd year of BCA out of boredom I started preparing for it and eventually loved solving the maths problems and that’s how 1 year passed and I gave the exam and cleared it with flying colors and got admission in this prestigious institute. So coming to the campus life, it is great here although the infrastructure is quite old and not so attractive but I met some of the brilliant young minds of India over here that is the thing that makes this college special. Computer science course was first started in this college in India. The oldest computers of size as large as a whole room are still available here. Placements are great and overall life is great here.

Academics is not that tough here. If you are consistent and attending the classes regularly then you can easily maintain pointer above 8. Some teachers are good and some are not only bad but rude and not much helpful. Overall curriculum of our course is great.

As I said earlier, some professors are really good and you will get a plethora of knowledge from them but in the other hand some professors are just like devils. They won’t teach anything in the class properly and make question papers really tough and they will not give you marks as well. Professors are well qualified and most of them are PhD holders from reputed institutes.

Nothing to write for placements for MNNIT, just do a Google search and you will get to know how placements are. It is in 2nd position in placements among overall NITs placements records of 2022-2023 according to NIRF and it holds the 7th position in placements among overall IITs and NITs. The old hostels are not that great but the new hostels will give you vibes of 5 star hotels. Mess food is purely veg here. If you are a non veg lover then you are going to have very hard time surviving in this college. Although the veg food of mess is very good and vegetarians are really happy with this food but I can't say anything about non veg lovers. However there are some canteens in the Raman and Tagore hostel campus (these two hostels are outside the campus) that offer non veg foods. There are restaurants outside the campus which offer very good veg and non veg food. Some of them are blackout and friends corner. The hostels have canteens which operate 24*7 and good food is available there. You should definitely try the alloo paratha of Tirth Raj Canteen which is beside the malviya hostel.

Infrastructure is old and not that visually attractive. Seminar halls are very small and not properly equipped, classrooms are also very old and they look very bad. Although they have ac's in almost all the classrooms but they are also very old. The management here is very poor. The swimming pool, for which 20 lacks rupees were raised by the alumnus in 2012 is also not made. They just dug the ground and left it after that. Library is also very small in size and it even can't accommodate 600-700 students.

Campus life is great, coding culture is great, coding clubs are very active in this college and interesting events take place regularly here. Apart from coding other events are also great here. CULRAV is the annual fest of the college and in this event famous comedians, dancers and singers come here and entertain.
