Environment at IIT Guwahati

Overall Rating
As far as it comes to choosing this college, I need not say much as NIRF itself ranks it at top 7 in India which is sound enough to tell it is a college with high standards, what I can tell is to reconfirm their ranking to be true. Reason I have chosen this over IITH is because of its vast area and its green environment, college's infrastructure might be bit older compared to IITH but for me nature beats anything, again it is your own preference.
 

Academics Rating
As mostly everyone knows we need to clear both JEE Mains and JEE Advanced, and just clearing is not enough to get into IIT GUWAHATI as it is one of the top 7 colleges you need to get a good enough rank. As far as my branch (Mathematics and Computing) concerned you need to get a rank below 1400 in JEE Advanced. About the course I am doing, you should be interested in math and finance for opting this or else you may find it boring.
 

Faculty Rating
All the professors are very well qualified, IITs make sure about these things but as you know not everyone teaches with their full potential with full seriousness so I say it is 50-50, you can find both gems and rocks it depends on you to focus on which subjects. Even the style of teaching varies from professor to professor as some profs take continuous assessment and others do it differently.
 

Placement Rating
Yes, placement opportunities in our college in all fields are good. Mainly I can assure you about software and finance companies, the topmost companies will be coming here it depends on you how good company you'll catch.
 

Hostel Rating
Yes it has 12 hostels some of them are new and some are old, the new ones have very good infrastructure but in old ones despite having bit poor infrastructure, the bonding with seniors and the hostel culture will be too good (even I am from one of the old hostels, so maybe I am biased).
 

Infrastructure Rating
You need not worry much about books as there is a huge library where you can get all books which you need. Profs do suggest some books to refer while starting the course. Course structure will be semester based and credit-based system, which means it is proportional to number of hours you work on that particular course and the grading system is relative.
 

Campus Rating
This is next level, leave about the fests as they are just on an above average level but coming to the clubs, you'll find everything what you want from these. As a student who didn't have a lot of exposure to various practical things before coming to the college, you'll be stunned to be part of clubs. Do join in clubs for sure. There are 2 kinds of clubs technical and cultural depending on your tastes you can join whatever you want.

The Institute is where one experiences a plethora of new activities, and gets to chat with passerby strangers like they were your next door neighbors and make unforgettable memories.     Overall experience for me in this Institute is quite good. Campus has lush greenery; you will feel the nature surrounding you with each step you take in the campus. I particularly choose IIT Guwahati because I am got my desired course at my rank in this Institute. But once I came to campus I was fully overwhelmed with campus infrastructure and size.     It has been a year since I joined IIT Guwahati. I have a very good experience in this Institute. We didn’t get to join the clubs in the beginning but the Institute conducts several events.
