Life at IIT Kharagpur

Overall Rating
IIT Kharagpur is one of the best IIT’s in the country and is rightly called the Institute of Eminence. I chose IIT KGP because at my rank, I had options in all the IITs, but I was getting the branch Economics here, and it turned out to be one of the best decisions. It has one of the best and vibrant student cultures, and also victories in the Inter IITs show the same picture.
 

Academics Rating
My course is Economics, the admission is through JEE advanced and JOSSA counseling, you need a rank around 4000 if you are a general candidate to obtain admission here. You can find the eligibility on the JEE advanced website. My motive was that I always wanted to take Computer Science as the branch but did not have it due to my rank, so economics turned to be a really good option for me.
 

Faculty Rating
The faculty at IIT Kharagpur is really qualified in true sense, sometimes there are professors who are not very good in teaching but they are also qualified enough. Different professors have different style of teaching, but they take the needs of students under consideration while teaching, the courses are designed to match global standards here.

Infrastructure Rating
The infrastructure of the college is a fair mix of old and new buildings all around the campus, the campus have adequate academic buildings, the library does get crowded during exams but at other times its fine, the amenities are available almost everywhere, the sports facilities are decent too, you won't face any problem regarding that in college.
 

Campus Rating
The campus life at IIT Kharagpur is no short of fun and excitement. Every day you will find something or the other major activity happening in the college. The societies and club culture in the campus is also very vibrant. We have two large scale fests in the campus and numerous others fests by department and societies, you will find a society for everything in the college.

    Overall Rating
    IIT Kharagpur is one of the most renowned academic institutes in India. It has NIRF ranking of 5th in engineering category. It is one among the oldest IITs in India which makes it strong alumni network. The lush greenery campus with fresh air, away from city makes students life excellent. I am from IIT Kharagpur and unlike many other IITs, there is no LAN Ban or restriction on data usage and also there is no hostel curfew which is an added bonus.... Read Full Review

    Being from a middle class family I have dreamt about getting into this Institute from Class 11. I didn't get much exposure to Engineering before, so I was very much excited. It is one of the largest campuses having a jungle spread on half of its area. One will not get bored as there many things to do. On every weekend, there are some programs going on at Gymkhana.     I am very happy to have got into IIT KGP. It has got the largest campus among all the IITs; spread around 2200 acres of land. It is one of the top 10 IITs. The course I have chosen here is Industrial and Systems Engineering and it is offered by this Institute alone.... Read Full Review

    The overall experience e here is very good, as we live like a family here and the locals of the residential area inside the campus are very kind and polite. The Academics, Societies, Sports Facilities, extra-curricular everything is excellent here except few things for which you might have to compromise.     If I summarize my experience at IIT-KGP, it would be all about great memories. It is one of the oldest Institute of Technology in India and a very prestigious Institute.
