Lady Shri Ram College for Women B.A Review By Aakanksha Shahi

I chose LSR without knowing about its reputation in DU. I secured 99% in Humanities in 12th standard so I got LSR as the first option. Just like any other fresher, I surfed through internet to know more about this college and trust me I don’t regret being an Elsa. This college teaches you a lot more than academics and due to its repute and first class faculty members. I would want every other girl to enjoy and experience the true sense of academics and have the best college life.

My course was BA English (Hons). It used to give admissions on the basis of merit in 12th standard. Now the system has changed. Aspirants have to clear CUET (PG) exam held by NTA and have a high score in order to get into a college like LSR. My motive to choose this course was my immense love for literature and a quest to learn more. You can have different motives but having an interest in the subject you are choosing is really important.

My English professors were true gems. No other college would have such an experienced staff as LSR. Their aura gives a whiff of knowledge. They are fun loving, student friendly, entertaining professors and not just strict disciplinarian. The staff works hard by providing extra notes, photocopied material, tutorial classes, group projects to make you fall in love with the course and dig deeper into it. My favorite professors were Johnathan Koshy, Shernaz Cama, Wafa Hamid.

Yes we do have a placement cell. It is one of the best placement cells where students beg package of up to 50 LPA. However, I don’t have firsthand experience since I'm a literature student.

The hostel has one of the sweetest staff members and the best food as well. The friends you make in your hostel stay with you forever in memories. LSR has a great hostel with all the facilities with an affordable price as compared to other PGs in South Delhi. I haven't lived in the hostel myself but have heard a lot about it from my fellow batch mates.

My college has the best infrastructure and it is well maintained. The college has 2 buildings. One is old and one is newly made. The new building has lift and is easier to access. The campus has Nescafe outlet, Mother Dairy outlet and a canteen with a lot of different and cheap food. The building has computer lab, psychology lab and language lab. It also has 2 huge lawns and a basketball ground as well. It has a gym, badminton ground and a tennis ground. There are amphitheater, auditorium, peace center and much more to explore and hangout at.

I had the best college life here. We have different fests like NOOR and TARANG and more. The campus has dogs that are super friendly and love scratch. There are different clubs like dance club, western music society, quiz club, etc that keep on organizing various programs to engage the students. The college doesn't take part in elections of DU in order to keep the environment peaceful. The campus life is chill and lovely.
