Indian Institute of Technology B.Tech Review By Mehul Agarwal

I joined my institute in November 2022. Going to IIT is always a dream of lakh of people but only few gets into it and I was one of them. My one friend whose brother was studying in IIT Kharagpur suggested me to take IIT Kharagpur in counseling. Actually I even did not know how far it was from my home. But the name and fame of my institute was so high that I was too much interested to be a part of the institute. I got Chemical Engineering and I joined the institute in November 2022. It was really exciting for me to study and have the experience of various different things in the institute such as big fests like Spring and Kshitij fest. Overall if I talk about till now, everything is balanced over there, no such heavy burden of a particular thing is there. You have a great opportunity to make your career in any field you are interested in.

As most of the students are selected by passing out the most difficult exam that is JEE Advanced, you can expect a good competition in terms of academics. Exam questions are not that much easy. But mostly people start studying one week before exams. There are various resources that you will come across when you reach institute. YouTube and pdf of notes helps a lot. I consider that the load of tests and assignment are not that much as compared to other institutes. Our laboratories are highly equipped with advanced machines which help us to explore various things.

Most of the faculty is really helping and friendly. I did not find out any faculty of my department that is rude or not supporting me. They are really supportive; you just need to approach them. Give respect to them and you will see how good they treat you. Some professors may not be so much active in teaching and you might not be able to understand their classes.

Placements are really good and if you maintain a good CGPA in the institute, and have some good skills, you will be placed at best companies. Placement season is hectic for everyone but ultimately you will land into a job and will be happy at the end.

Hostels are called as halls in my institute. All halls compete in general championship. The rooms are not fancy; they are just normal and just have space for your bed table and chair. They are not that furnished too but you will get used to it. Food is good of most of the halls and if someday you do not like the menu then there are various canteens where you can eat at affordable price. Seniors of the halls are also supportive when we approach them.

The infrastructure of halls is not that new. The place where we go to attend classes is called Nalanda and it's really big. It is too much big. It would take time to understand the location of different rooms in Nalanda. Apart from it various departments have their own big buildings and laboratories. There are various places for different things like main building, hospital, Gymkhana, stadium, etc.

The strength is great in my institute and there are various clubs too. I mean there are too much clubs. Just imagine something and you will get a club or society for that. Getting into societies is not easy and you will face some rejection too. But it's always a great experience. I am personally involved in various societies like acting, welfare and martial arts society. The two big fests are held in January named as Spring and Kshitij and it's the best fest you will come across.
