Growing Everyday at NIT Durgapur

Overall Rating
I am a student at NIT Durgapur as I am pursuing B.Tech from Civil Engineering. I chose this branch because I had interest in building planning. My JEE rank allowed to choose this institute. One should go to this institute because it is an institution of National Importance where you learn things among the brightest minds and gain knowledge while exploring many new things. I love being in the circle of such experienced and qualified professors.
 

Academics Rating
In this course, you will learn different subjects like Building & Construction Planning and many more. For getting this course, you should have a rank of around 36000 around in JEE Main for general category and around 40000 rank for General EWS category. The academic provides enough to be ready for the outer world. Admission process is somewhat lengthy and hectic. You have to do submit many documents.
In our institute, per semester fee is around Rs. 83000.
 

Faculty Rating
In NIT Durgapur, there are 25 to 30 teachers and professors. They are highly qualified. Almost all have done PhD in their domain. The professors explain every topic in such a manner that the topics can be visualized and easily understood. They prepare presentations and PPTs for making us understand the topics more clearly. The teacher to student’s ratio is nice. We can say it is around 1:50. The professors are very interactive.
 

Hostel Rating
Yes, the institute has accommodation facilities. Mess fee for each semester is Rs. 20,000.
 

Infrastructure Rating
The infrastructure is overall average. There are academic blocks dedicated to each department. The quality of academic blocks is good. All the lab facilities related to each department are there in their respective academic blocks. There is one large new auditorium where we have many different students’ related activities is done. Medical facility is also provided in case of emergency. Nescafe is the area, which I like the most. Classrooms are aided with technical equipment like projector and digital board.
 

Campus Rating
Campus life in NIT Durgapur is average. There are around 5k students including from 1st year to 4th year. There are numerous clubs in our institute such as sports club, SAE India, EDC, CCA, and many more. I am in Civil society. There are many fests for tech and cultural. Institute also tries to celebrate the birth anniversary of great personalities who have had significant contribution in the development of our country.

    My overall Institute experience till now has been good. I chose this Institute as it was the best option which I was getting at the time of JOSAA counseling and also the ECE department of this Institute was very good. I don't think that there is any big difference between this Institute and others. However they are very strict when it comes to ragging.     The institute is situated at Durgapur, West Bengal. It is the 7th-ranked NIT in India and has an NIRF ranking of 44th in the country, according to the 2024 report.     Experienced around 2 years in NIT Durgapur, it was mixture of everything. Starting from taking part in the fests and events and then being a part of the organising committee and I felt extremely grateful.
