My Opinion on NIT Durgapur: Best Infrastructure & Education

Overall Rating
My overall experience at the institute is quite good. NIT Durgapur has taught me many things. From time management to adaptability, I have learnt everything here. Factors that made me choose this institute were due to its location, which is not very far from my home and 2nd thing will be Tech placements. I think its quality of cultural and annual fests make it different from others.
 

Academics Rating
My course is B.Tech and the motivation is from childhood to become a good engineer. Eligibility criteria for B.Tech is clearing JEE Main exam and securing greater than 96 percentile. Admission process is smooth and hassle free. Exams are conducted semester wise. In each semester, there are 2 exams, namely mid sem exam and end sem exam. Laboratory exams are held too. Academics prepare us in such a way that we can handle it all.
Year wise fee is Rs. 1,60,000 and semester wise is Rs. 78,800. Tuition fees are Rs. 62,500. Maintenance fee, library fee, exam fee, student activity fee, etc are the rest. Those with family income less than Rs. 1,00,000, their fee is Rs. 16,300.
 

Faculty Rating
Faculty members’ teaching method is very decent. They try to make us understand as much as they can. Majority of them are from NIT and IIT. They generally teach using both blackboards and PPTs. Problem solving abilities of the faculty is good. Teachers are approximately 225 and students are approximately 5,000. Faculty members are well approachable except some of them and bonding is also good with some awesome faculty members.
 

Placement Rating
There is a training and placement cell at the institute. It keeps informing about the upcoming companies for placements. There are interview sessions, debate and group discussions also. Reliance, TCS, Texas Instruments, Microsoft, etc. have visited us. Average is 12 LPA and highest is 51 LPA.
 

Hostel Rating
There are hostels with 100 rooms and 3 student-sharing rooms. Girls and boys have separate hostels. Mess food is good. Hostel fee is Rs. 19,600 semester wise and Rs. 39,200 annually. There are no timings except for 1st year. My experience is good.
 

Infrastructure Rating
There is 1 main academic block. Campus size is 187 acres and it is very far from main city. Some Classrooms have seating capacity of 250, others have 100 and some have 50. Library, labs seminar hall, and an auditorium is there. Facilities canteen, sports, medical (24 hrs), transport, security are also good. My favourite place is library.
 

Campus Rating
Overall campus life is really good. College is full of crowd coming from diverse backgrounds. There are many clubs and I am also a part of them. Extracurricular activities include inter hall sports. Fests like cultural fest namely ‘Recstacy’ and tech fests like ‘Aarohan’ are celebrated every year. Campus life is very chill and awesome.

  • NIT Durgapur Placements, Hostels, and Anti-Ragging Policies

    My overall Institute experience till now has been good. I chose this Institute as it was the best option which I was getting at the time of JOSAA counseling and also the ECE department of this Institute was very good. I don't think that there is any big difference between this Institute and others. However they are very strict when it comes to ragging.     The institute is situated at Durgapur, West Bengal. It is the 7th-ranked NIT in India and has an NIRF ranking of 44th in the country, according to the 2024 report. According to me, the Institute placement, infrastructure, and faculty are very nice. In addition, I will surely suggest this Institute to my future juniors.     Experienced around 2 years in NIT Durgapur, it was mixture of everything. Starting from taking part in the fests and events and then being a part of the organising committee and I felt extremely grateful. Apart from that, the professors in my department were extremely helpful and kind.   • NIT DGP Fee Structure and Financial Aid

    NIT DGP is a pretty old Institution with about 60 years of history. Overall, this has potential but roughly it offers a similar experience to those of older NITs, and things are laggard typical of government Institutions in general, particularly in West Bengal.
