Christ University Placements: Opportunities and Success Stories

You will get a lot of exposure in this university. People from different cultures speaking many different languages will surround you. Christ University also offers a student a safe and disciplined environment. Ragging is dealt very strictly. It is located in Bangalore, which means that a student like me who wants to get into technical industry can get many opportunities. Almost all students are guaranteed to get placed.

I have enrolled in B.Sc in Data Science with Statistics. I chose this course as currently, it is in high demand. It is a double major so I have to get 132 credits whereas I have received only 120 credits for a normal degree course. I also have the option to pursue my honors. A student should score a minimum of 60% in their grade 12th board exams to be eligible to enroll at Christ University. Students take online entrance exam. All the students regardless of their score in the entrance exam get called up for personal interview round which they have to attend in person at the campus. The student's vocabulary, fluency, as well as his/her knowledge of the subject plays a vital role in case of student's chances of getting selected. We have our CIA (Continuous Internal Assessments) once in a month. There are 4 CIAs in total. The second CIA is our mid-sem exams, which account for 25% of grade and the fourth CIA is our end-sem exams, which account for 50% of our grade. The remaining 2 CIA's are worth 10% each and attendance contributes to the remaining 5%.

I pay 1.2 Lakh per year, which makes up to 3.6 Lakh over 3 years. The fee to pursue Honors is 1.6 Lakh and it lasts a year. There are no additional charges. The institution offers a concession to students from weaker economic backgrounds on its own. There are various other scholarships that a student could turn to as well.

Faculties are well experienced. Most of them have completed their research at reputed institutions like IIT's or have several years of experience in the industry to back them up. A lot of teachers prefer to use PPTs whilst the teachers who teach us how to problems use either black or white boards. They share the presentations once the class is over so that the students do not have to write down everything that the teacher dictates. There are about 5 teachers for every 70 students. The teachers are open-minded and are very approachable, be it doubts or just other concerns that one might have. They are always ready to help us out.

Yes, there is a placement cell. It identifies the unique skills and talents possessed by a student and notify them about interviews for job titles that might suit them the best. There is a club dedicated to just this, called CAPS (Center for Academic & Professional Support). They often conduct events that allow a student to improve their soft skills and more. The average package is around 5 LPA and the highest is 32 LPA.

The campus has 6 blocks including a block dedicated to R&D. The campus size is about 10 acres. It is located at SG Palaya, which is right next to Koramangala. Around 80 to 90 students can be seated in a classroom. There are two libraries with almost 100,000 books in total. There are 3 auditoriums. There are several canteens at every block and vending machines. There are 3 health centers with proper doctors. There are courts to accommodate almost every outdoor sport and the University Team practices every evening. My favorite part is garden street where a lot of ‘Flash Mobs’ take place.

The campus life is always so happening. I feel like Christ University is a bit overcrowded, you sometimes do not even have the space to walk. There are many clubs and the student can be sure to find a club those best suits his/her interests. I am a part of a club called StaDa, which conducts event that improves my skills as a Data Scientist. Ethnic day is an event to look out for, students dress up in their traditional wear and celebrate all day long with DJs and more. ‘Blossoms’ and ‘Darpan’ are two very big competitions that allow students to showcase their artful as well as diplomatic skills.
