Punjab Engineering College has Good Alumni Network

Overall Rating
It has been a good experience till now in Punjab Engineering College. I am currently pursuing my UG from Computer Science Engineering from here. I joined this college due its high placements and internship opportunities. It’s a government funded technical institution. The institute is around 100 years old. Famous celebrities such as Kalpana Chawla and Badshah have studied in the college. Every year a famous celebrity comes and graces the stage.
 

Academics Rating
I chose B.Tech Computer Science Engineering, which is of four years. You have to give Joint Entrance Examination, which is of national level, and sit in JoSAA counseling. There are exams twice in each semester with quizzes going on for whole semester. You can’t rely on teachers for whole academics. All you need to do is study on your own. Yes, the academics prepare you for real life challenges. It’s a good college.
The college fee is approximately 9 Lakh. Scholarships are provided for students with lower family income.
 

Faculty Rating
Faculty members have good experience of teaching. Some are good teachers as well. Senior teachers are somehow strict but some are chill. They use both blackboards and smart boards in the form of power point presentations. There is one teacher for 60 students in each branch. Each branch consists of approximately 120 students. Teachers are highly qualified and teach well. They are PhD holders and have expertise in their respective subjects.
 

Placement Rating
The cell is known as CDGC PEC. The placements are declining year to year. Average is around 14 LPA for CSE and 10 LPA for the college. This year around 350 students are placed out of 900.
 

Hostel Rating
Boy’s and girl's hostels are separate. Mess food is good. Hostel fee is Rs. 84,000 for 6 months and mess fee of Rs. 3,000 per month.
 

Infrastructure Rating
Infrastructure is old as in Punjab Engineering College was built in almost 100 years ago. College has two academic blocks: the new academic block and the old academic block. Classes of first year and some of second year are held in new academic block while that of third and fourth are in old academic block. Library is small, there is a cricket ground, football ground one basketball court, one tennis court, also table tennis and snooker table in the hostel.
 

Campus Rating
Campus life is good. There are approximately 3000 students in the college with 900 coming every year. There are many societies & clubs like ACM for coding, SCC (Student Counseling Cell), WEC (Women Empowering Cell), and EIC (Entrepreneur Incubation Cell). There is perfect held every year in November where Bollywood stars come to perform concerts every year. This year, Salim Suleiman came to grace the stage.

    Punjab Engineering College is a well known and very reputed college. College provides very good placement opportunities and internship opportunities. But, the campus itself does not have modern infrastructure and classes are not air conditioned.     The college has a great location and past. It is located in Chandigarh which provides a beautiful surrounding and atmosphere. Being a JEE student, You would always like to have a good college to complete your B.Tech degree. PEC, Chandigarh is considered better than even many NIT's and IIT's which made me choose this college.     The college overall is great. The infrastructure is okay but the environment is good and there is literally zero ragging. The senior junior interaction here is very good and professors are very dedicated towards their work. The college gives a very happy kind of a vibe.     Punjab Engineering College, has lot of prestige, and boasts a strong reputation. It is one of the top leading institutes for engineering.
