Overall Honest Review of NIT Durgapur

Overall Rating
Honestly, at my time ranking of this college was very good and also placement statistics was nice at that time and since I want to go in circuital branch and I was getting ECE, I got this college in CSAB. My department (ECE) is very chill with respect to other departments. If you are getting ECE, go for it without thinking. Placement in circuital branch is quite nice.
 

Academics Rating
Academically, in the end you have to study from YouTube only. 75% attendance is compulsory in every subject, and it's taken seriously by many professors now. ECE professors are quite chill and also, they easily give marks. Enrollment in the particular branch is based on your JEE Main rank. Electrical professors are quite strict. Civil academic schedule is quite hectic.
 

Faculty Rating
Some of the professors are great and style of their teaching is really awesome. Some of professors are so good that if you listen in their class, you don't need to study anything else. But many of them teach so bad, that no matter how much attention you pay in class, you have to study from YouTube. Academic background of professors is quite great.
 

Placement Rating
Yes, we have a Placement Cell at our institute. Being a training and placement coordinator of ECE Department, I can surely say that it really helps students acquire jobs in core as well as in industry.
 

Hostel Rating
Very bad condition of hostels especially in 3rd and final years. Mess food is very bad in hall and facilities are also in very bad condition.
 

Infrastructure Rating
Infrastructure is good. Construction of new research building is currently in progress. Main academic building infrastructure is very old, but new academic building infrastructure is good. I can't really trust on medical unit of this college. There are some of cafes in the campus. There are 2 big grounds, but lords never get cleaned.
 

Campus Rating
Campus Life during Aarohan and Recstacy (college fest) is really amazing. There are many clubs in my college and being a member of oldest and largest club of NIT Durgapur, I can say you have to do work in the club which will only enhance your personality and improves your skills, but when it's come to club party and night out which we frequently do, there is a lot of fun. Overall, campus life is good because of good students.

    My overall Institute experience till now has been good. I chose this Institute as it was the best option which I was getting at the time of JOSAA counseling and also the ECE department of this Institute was very good. I don't think that there is any big difference between this Institute and others. However they are very strict when it comes to ragging.     The institute is situated at Durgapur, West Bengal. It is the 7th-ranked NIT in India and has an NIRF ranking of 44th in the country, according to the 2024 report.
