International Institute of Information Technology M.Tech Review By Hitesh Chauhan

IIITB is still an undiscovered place because not many students apply for M. Tech at IIITB. Colleges like Ramaiah Institute of Technology, BMS College of Engineering, and CMR Institute of Technology find more attraction due to their old pedigree. Initially, even I wasn’t sure about IIITB, but thanks to those who forced me to join this college. The college’s flagship program is the integrated B.Tech and M.Tech program, but M.Tech from IIITB holds a great value. The best part of IIITB was that there was nothing like average there. Either the days were shitty or awesome to the blue sky. I was a dull student but left the college as a data dude because the programming I learned here was awesome. One biggest learning that I had at IIITB was that you could have awesome things in life only if you are out of your comfort zone.

To get strong, failure is essential. I failed in the initial tests and the questions that were asked to me. I was sorry as it was not mine but my previous college’s fault. All these things made me work harder, and the college provides a perfect environment and skilled teachers that one can rise above their ranks. Data analytics and data modeling were the main subjects that I studied at IIITB. Surviving at IIITB was a little tough, but those who have survived are at places today.

Ideally, I shouldn’t be writing names but Sri sir, I just love you. The dedication with which he and other professors backed the students was amazing. Complexity of brain and how to make it sharper were some exercises that professors taught us. Professors here could read students' brains and made us drink the philosophy of engineering better than anybody. It is said that faculty make an institute stronger, and I don’t know about other institutes, but in IIITB, the saying fits perfectly.

Placements at IIITB were in line with top engineering colleges of the country. All the big names like TCS, Infosys, Wipro and all have signed students of IIITB. Many successful start-ups that have become brands today have also led the placement charts. I will be fair that placements were not 100%, but whoever got placed had an offer worth nearly 10LPA. The highest from our batch bagged offer worth 27 LPA. Not just domestic but many students from our batch have also gone on to work for US firms. The placement cell of IIITB works for the student as many former students run it. However, placement training fees was mandatory, but the program was helpful and more importantly, if by paying 15,000, one gets a placement of 15 LPA, then who cares.

Electronic city has maximum PGs and flats for students and working-class, but I still chose to stay at the hostel. It looked great from the outside and was even better from inside. Food was my biggest area of concern, and that problem though wasn’t solved 100%, but at least the taste was of my palate. More importantly it was edible. All the best flours and oils were used and the high fees that we had to pay for the mess was justified. An outsider will never feel an outsider at the hostel as maximum students were from other states of India. I loved my hostel life at IIITB to the core and would recommend everyone who joins this college to stay at the hostel of IIITB.

Infrastructure was awesome and added that the campus looked even more beautiful with the pleasant weather of Bangalore. Along with scenic beauty, the campus had modern art as all the buildings were modern as digital locks, CCTV cameras, ECT enables classrooms and a digital library. In gist, the college has imposed all the possible technologies that one can in a college. I immediately fell in love with the college’s infrastructure as the indoor sporting facilities and beautiful canteen, which was our go-to place, were of unmatched quality. I have been to several other colleges, but no one comes close to IIITB in terms of infrastructure.

First of all, everyone was treated equally at the campus and there was no discrimination done based on the state they come from or the cast they belonged to. The college had a culture where every student would wish each other during the festivals, and college events were the best platform to showcase our technical and non-technical skills. One thing that I feel should be associated with campus life is that you should always miss it. I left the college nearly three years back, and to date, I dream of my days spent there.
