Reality of NIT Durgapur

Overall Rating
I chose this institute because earlier its rank was very good, and I was getting CS with my JEE rank. Overall experience is good with this particular institute. There is a lot of humidity in summers. Negative point of this institute is that it has not utilized its space properly. You can go for this institute if you are getting a circuital branch.
 

Academics Rating
Eligibility for enrolling in particular department is just your JEE rank. CS courses are not only on software but also include architecture of CS. Professors are quite experienced. But 75% attendance is mandatory. There will be lots of assignments in CS and scoring marks is also quite tough. Motive for enrolling in it can be its good placement.
 

Faculty Rating
Professors are well experienced and have great knowledge of their subject. Some of them helped a lot in your final year project if you are working under them. But they are quite strict, if you are not disciplined in class, they will teach you such a lesson that you will never forget. But some of them are not so good and in the end, YouTube is only source.
 

Placement Rating
Placements of this college for circuital branch are very good. Although due to recession, it's not so good this year but earlier it was great.
 

Hostel Rating
Very bad hostel condition.
 

Infrastructure Rating
New hostel hall 14 infrastructure is very good but very congested. Construction of new research building is in progress. Old infrastructure is worn out. New auditorium is very good. Seniors' hall like hall 2 and hall 1 are in very bad condition. There is no proper utilization of space. Wonder cafe and Nescafe are good.
 

Campus Rating
Campus life is great because no matter how college is, in the end your friends and seniors' matter. College fests like aarohan and recstacy are really great just because of organising team. There are lots of clubs and workload is quite high in them but when it comes to party, there is a lot of fun. Other engagement activities like sport and gym is not bad.

    My overall Institute experience till now has been good. I chose this Institute as it was the best option which I was getting at the time of JOSAA counseling and also the ECE department of this Institute was very good. I don't think that there is any big difference between this Institute and others. However they are very strict when it comes to ragging.     The institute is situated at Durgapur, West Bengal. It is the 7th-ranked NIT in India and has an NIRF ranking of 44th in the country, according to the 2024 report.
